We will beat up on all of the small nations of the earth, but when it comes to a nation that can actually stand up to us........we back down. That is the plain and simple truth. All of the former Soviet Republics are in Russia''''s "sphere of interest", and like it or not, they will be the ones calling the shots. All we can do is sit and bluster and threaten Russia with economic retailiation, which is in-and-of itself not very effective.
This coming from people who would have treated the 9/11 attacks as a crime..Oh, I forgot, George and Chaney did that with George''s brother watching one of the towers to come down.

-Thanks for the lead. Quite interesting and well described feelings many here on this thread share. The Neo-Cons/AIPAC/PNAC are some real monsters. America needs a deep change before it''s too late.

-I guess with or without the change taking place, here in Washington, this suffocation of Iran is gonna take place!

wothah - do you even read the articles that you post about?

From the article:

Ukraine to return gas to Rosukrenergo
Ukraine will return 1.3 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas to the Swiss-registered company Rosukrenergo, according to Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Prodan.

There''s nothing in there whatsoever about Russia stopping shipments of gas to the Ukraine.

"If Georgia is waiting on their US ally or the world (meaning the West) to come to their defense against Russia, they better not hold their breath. America may lose wars or conflicts, but we never willingly attack or enter into any war with countries who have the means or military power to kick our azz. Russia is such a power..China is another. America does not attack countries that have nukes and we don''''t attack countries who have the capability of traveling to our own country and paying us back. That is just a fact."

That is entirely correct. As our forces are spread all over the globe, there is not one thing we can do to militarily help any of the former Soviet Republics, and I can almost guarantee that almost none of the other NATO nations would go to war to stop Russia from siezing any of the other nations in the Caucusus. We will beat up on all of the small nations of the earth, but when it comes to a nation that can actually stand up to us........we back down. That is the plain and simple truth. All of the former Soviet Republics are in Russia''s "sphere of interest", and like it or not, they will be the ones calling the shots. To be honest, all you libs are stupid and need to get a life. Why would this be a diversion from US attacking Iran ? See, I just proved you want the Soviet Union back so you can feel "better" about yourselves.

''''I have written a series of articles over the last few weeks on the coming nightmare centered on the neocon grand strategy. I predicted the outbreak of hostilities in Georgia and Russia and said that there is a strong link between what is happening there and to what is about to happen against Iran. I said that the war in Georgia was intended as a strategic distraction for Russia as America, the UK, France, Israel, and others assemble their large naval blockade of Iran, but a strategic distraction that would backfire. I also described the massive US Naval armada headed for Iran; the make-up of this extremely large and powerful force is as I described it several days ago.

Yea, and Jeb Bush sat in one of the WTC and watched come down !

mark19712, This came from RUSSIA TODAY; NEWS, they also states that Ukraine has stolan russian gas, "1.3 billion cubic metres" destined for Western Europe, the gas was taken last year from a pipe line that crosses Ukraine, now russia is going to stop gas shipments to Ukraine. What russia needs to do is to march right in to Ukraine and stop them from stealing their gas that is being stolen fron Western Europe, because Western Europe has no idea of this and russia will again be saving the world from them selves

This guy, Saakashvili, has proven to be lying over and over again, but he continues. The sad thing is, he knows if he lies enough, some of the lies will stick.

Gorbachev dismantled the Soviet Union. He is a brave and honest man. He didn''t deserve to be on the same show as Georgian henchman Saakashvili.

Maybe CNN needed the ratings, but quite frankly it was low. This guy, Saakashvili, has proven to be lying over and over again, but he continues. The sad thing is, he knows if he lies enough, some of the lies will stick.

russia to Ukraine, join NATO and pay the price, putin warns Ukraine. Moscow now states that Ukraine mercenaries has shot down a russian bomber and people from other Baltics countries where involved. Also some of the corpses had narrow eyes typical of peopleof Asian oririn. The advancing tanks of the Georgian military was Ukrainan tank crews, two of the UNIDENTIFIED bodies was BLACK, possibly AMERICANS but the russian military can''t say for sure "YET"! russia also states that they are ready for "preventive nuclear strike. This is the same thing that HITLER did to show that they are the ones being attack, What a JOKE for russia to do this. This is from the russian press to the russian people

In a related development, the Russian foreign ministry criticized Ukraine decision to impose naval restrictions against its navy ships in Ukrainian ports. The decision by Ukraine is a clear violation of signed bilateral agreement regarding Russian navy fleet, the statement noted.''''

That''''s right, Turkey, a NATO member, whose northern border is with Georgia. It would appear that Turkey is aware that the Georgian President, who launches ''''Barbaric'''' attacks against a city full of Civilians, and lies on TV, is not to be trusted.

-The blood spot will increase in size pretty soon. Russian Patience has been stretched thin regarding our Liar935Bush''s sneaky, childish and unintelligent policies in Eastern Europe.

-Russia is lining up the whole Arab/Muslim World behind it, in order to end our presence outta the Middle-East. It won''t be long.

Unfortunate (but funny) sequence of events from wall street journal

A stocky man in camouflage fatigues who walked from behind a Russian tank seemed like any other Russian soldier at the main military checkpoint just inside this occupied Georgian city. Then, he pulled out a pistol, stuck it into the thigh of a United Nations official, and demanded the keys to a gleaming SUV parked nearby.
Seconds later, he pointed the gun at the feet of another international official, collected another pair of car keys, and -- unleashing a volley of obscenities -- fired two shots in the air. Suddenly, dozens of journalists, aid workers and diplomats rushed to their cars as Russian troops sat atop several tanks, watching the mayhem around them with amused detachment.
Three staffers of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, their vehicle seized at gunpoint, sought refuge in the back of a speeding Wall Street Journal car, breaking a window as they jumped inside. "This is not a very safe place," exhaled Nikolai Vanchev, the UNHCR field safety adviser, as he caught his breath and tried to relay a protest to the Russian Embassy.

I''m so sorry to interrupt all this ridiculous, right-wing confusion, but prior to Georgia''a attack on South Ossetia, WHAT WAS KARL ROVE DOING OVER IN GEORGIA, WHEN HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE TESTIFYING BEFORE CONGRESS? And now, of course, our government is trying to demonize Russia.
