I agree its not nice that they used kids like that...

However, if the kids like it, if they don''t mind,

WHY DO YOU??

You have to understand China''s perspective. Try putting yourself in their shoes. This is their chance to show the world what they can do. Should they not demand perfection? Even if it DOES conflict with certain moral values. This way, 2 kids get the chance to shine, get realized for their different strong points and China gets the perfect combo!

As for being ''Americanized'', why in the WORLD would China want that. Did you not see their Olympic performance? ''The dragon is awakening'', the ''dragon'' isn''t America, its China.

"So by tomorrow she''''ll be in a factory making NFL clothing 18 hours a day." Posted by SistaTee

You are a bit too influenced by the years of anti Chinese propaganda, perhaps if you do some "virtual" (even better, real) travel to Beijing, Shenzen, Guangdou, and Xiamen, you would see big metropolitan areas like more modern versions of any big American city, the girl who voiced the song will, if she chooses to, be perfectly able to pursue a singing career, the government will not force her to work in a sweatshop. At 7, I doubt she has made up her mind to go that way, if she does, could anyone ask for a better resume entry?

Google Mui Yim Fong (Anita Mui) this late diva was known throughout the world, (except for provincial Americans) but was often (and very incorrectly, IMO) described as "ugly", because of her rather full-lipped pout, uncharacteristic for Chinese pop stars, but check her accomplishments, she has done better than most American stars.

China isn''t perfect by any means, (neither are we) but it also isn''t as bad as those with anti Chinese agendas have convinced you is the case.

"...so... you''''d be okay with say, Whitney Houston singing off camera but with the voice being done by Paris Hilton and you''''d be okay with the explanation that Whitney was not pretty or white enough to be seen with her own voice? Knives cut both ways brianbwb."

If as the artistic director of a audio video production, I wanted to see a Paris-type image, while hearing a Whitney-style voice, then that is what I want. Artists create with whatever tools are available, and this is only a tool used to create that effect, it is just as legit as studio musicians making hit songs for your favorite pop group.

"White" enough? You went there, I didn''t.

"Because of poor visibility, some previously recorded footage may have been used," he told a daily press conference. You were saying brian?"

The fireworks were real, just superimposed, but at least they did happen, perhaps at a different time, but they were not "fake". Did you complain about the wire work when "Trinity" ran on a wall in "The Matrix"?

It was a visual spectacular, but if your anti whatever will not allow you to just watch and enjoy, then don''t watch.

You know that guy who sings in the FreeCreditReport.com commercials? He lipsynchs, too.
He''s from Canada and has a French accent when he sings so they had someone else sing.
Pavarotti lipsynched, too, for the last Olympics.
George Bush? Yeap, he lipsynchs, too. It''s been Jim Varney all along.

it seems that western media really don''t want to see China going well, so they always report negative news, maybe they just want there''s more freedom in China but they don''t want China get stronger too fast.

A 7-year-old Chinese girl was not good-looking enough for the Olympics opening ceremony,

So by tomorrow she''ll be in a factory making NFL clothing 18 hours a day.

I know America values looks and we see stupid examples of people trying to be something they are not all the time. This story is sad at best. If a nation chooses to represent this image using innocent children then I think their culture is lacking in morality. How can you justify the mockery of a child! I have twin boys (20 months old) and I would rather jump over a bridge than allow my children to be used as tools for some pathetic misrepresentation. I know many Chinese people and like all humans; there are some good ones and some bad ones. This sad story though shows that China has a dark hole in their soul and no amount of money or good PR is ever going to fix it. China doesn''t deserve the Olympics, the lip singing and singing child don''t deserve to be used, and the Chinese people need to look at their sad state and ask look to recover their lost values. In my humble opinion this nation has none. All they value is money and power at any cost... including innocent children, the environment, human rights, etc.

***, these people are the shallowest...I mean this is where certain corporation check people''s blood type when hiring, and ask potential employees what their zodiac is;and then banned bald taxi drivers from working during the Olympics...I wonder what that little girl felt when she was told she would have to sing behind the curtain...I think China has more to worry about than crooked teeth. At their very core the entire ethical beliefs and their financial structures are what are crooked...I wonder what nefarious schemes the athletes and their coaches have been up to...and hope there will be extensive drug testing...
