Americans invades countries with lies, corruptions and deceit resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths, uses imprisonment and torture on detainies not charged for any crimes, threatens whole regions of the world with its nukes etc.

CHINA did not invade any country and use torture/imprisonment on anyone. AMERICA needs to look in the mirror first.

This Olympic spectacle is highly politicized by the Communist Chinese Government.

Before the games started they already had beaten and arrested 2 reporters, denied Visas to Olympic atheletes because of their outspokenness for human rights in China or for Tibet independence.

"Political people, stay away from Olympic Games, you are soooooooooooooo stupid! - Posted by fiona_cheris

Fiona - you probably meant the best of intentions, but do you realize you just made a poltical statement ?

It is pretty much impossible to keep politics, at some level, out of anything.

Chinese people don''t like hugging? That''s not true! They like it but just are not used to it as a casual thing. For friends, putting arm around someone''s shoulders are pretty common too, except for strangers. Basically, you don''t touch a stranger, or hug, or anything too personal, unless you know that person.

Holding the Olympics in China is like holding a human rights festival in Nazi Germany.

Please, anyone on our globe who values freedom and justice, do not watch or contribute to this abomination upon humanity in any way.

if you are there have a WONDERFUL TIME, & if you have time find a chinese & give him/her a hug

Moonbeam91,
I agree with most of your positive comments, and I plan to watch and enjoy as much of the games as I can. (on TV from here in the USA). However , for those in China or going to China, you might want to skip the part about giving hugs! It''s considered impolite unless it''s a family member. This is from a U.S. document on proper etiquette for visitors to China.

"The Chinese do not like to be touched, particularly by strangers. Do not hug, back slap or put an arm around someone''s shoulder. "

May all the athletes enjoy themselves doing what they''ve diligently prepared for all these years, leading up to their moment in Beijing. This is all about the athletes, although I hope things in general will improve for all the nations participating in this event. Political leaders can learn from this competition and how geo-political differences can in fact be set aside for the good of all present, which for a moment remain in peace.

We should probably be nicer to China - after all, thanks to George Bush spending money like a pimp with a week to live, they have almost all of our debt. Let''s hope they never call on us to settle up.

Probably the most beautiful and impressive visual spectacle I have ever seen, and I have seen quite a few.

I pity London, as they are going to have an extremely hard time trying to equal, don''t even mention top this.

Don''t forget about the 1.5 million poor people thrown out of there homes and never to return. For this event to aired like it was a great thing is just a sample of what these Neo Cons will do for there own agenda.

All this for a few weeks of showing off and winning gold medals at the expense of the poor and defenceless. What a disgrace on the part of the players, Even these A holes are low life and win no honour in my eye''s.
