Violence Between Indian Tribes And Rice Farmers Escalates In Amazon
- Spacengin:
Recent research has proved that all vegetation releases methane, a greenhouse gas.
Why is methane a greenhouse gas?
Because it`s a hydrocarbon and its carbon-hydrogen bonds absorb the infra-red (heat) radiation from the sun.
Other sources of atmospheric hydrocarbons are unburnt gasoline emitted from car exhausts and the vapors released when pumping gas into the tank of your car.
However, by far the greatest emitters of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere are trees. Ever noticed the blue haze over forests, especially pine forests? The blue haze contains the volatile hydrocarbon components from the trees` essential oils.
That wise environmentalist, Ronald Reagan, was absolutely right when he said, "Trees pollute more than people".
So, the solution to global warming is perfectly clear.
Instead of planting more trees, CHOP THEM ALL DOWN!!!

- The Amazon could be a very important carbon sink. Without it, temperatures on earth might rise quickly. It is already hot enough in many places. The US should stand with the Brazilian government and the Indians. The Amazon rice farmers and loggers must be destroyed. They are criminals. The Indians care for the land and its creatures. Evicting the Amazon rice farmers would be the best thing for the earth''s environment on which we all depend. The Amazon must be protected. Respecting the Indian heritage may be the best way to do it.

"The Semitic religions [Judaism and Islam] are a curse on humanity".
Jesus never married, had long hair like a girl and an unnaturally close relationship with his mother.
He surrounded himself with male companions who were kissed on the lips and also had an obsession with the feet of both s-e-xes, never missing an opportunity to wash them.
When Jesus was arrested, he was followed by a scantily-clad youth who ran off naked into the night.
What would you call Jesus if he was alive today, rev_hellhorn?
Messiah?
I don`t think so. - Reply to this comment
- And somehow Christianity has been coopted by big agribusiness just as it has been coopted by big oil (Bush/Cheney), by the Halliburton, Blackwater, Exxon etc. These fug heads feel they have the right to shoot indigenous people for their rice profits. Come on lucky plague...Humanity needs a reset.

Moron

Moron? Name one civilization that has survived in tact after contact with Christians? If they don''t "convert" (kneel), then they are given blankets infected with small pox or just slaughtered outright. Call a murderous cult what it is: a murderous cult - just like extreme Islam. Both Christianity and Islam have lost their way. And both point to the other as reason enough to abandon all of their own principles since the end (end of the other religion) justifies the means. Jesus would be appalled by what Christianity has become just like Mohamed would be appalled by what Islam has become. The "extremists" on both sides have hijacked the religions for profit and power and in doing so, have soiled the religions forever. If you drop your cup, you can glue it back together, but it''s never as sound as it was before you dropped it in the first place. - Reply to this comment

- colonialism through transnational business must no longer be an option---government exploitation and corruption of indigenous peoples must stop!!! Tell Mello to go rule over the desert in Iraq and help with the infrastructure there if he wants to rule over some old cultures and their ruins! He is a fool!!

- The indians will win this time-all of the media resources and anthropology will make it so- or they will be slaughtered by a greedy government, but--it is in the global interest not to let agribusiness in the last huge carbon exchanging forest of the world, because to do so is to commit global suicide, so you see the indians must win this time, a win for them is a win for all of humanity. Come on anthropologists, unite and put the pressure on!!!!

- How many billion dollars is THIS going to cost us? We have to keep Brazil at peace, so that trouble doesn''t spill over into Paraguay where Bush has his 98,000 acre ranch.

- Is there a place on the planet where people get along for five minutes?

Yeah, usually at the check-out line at Home Depot. Because after waiting 10 to 20 minutes for another register to open, no matter what your political views are, everyone in line can agree that their customer service sucks! - Reply to this comment

- To cheap to work hard and buy some land that is available, so they steal it from the Indians because they know they can get away with it. These farmers need to be charged rent for passed use, and then be evicted.

- Hmmm...I understand that some folks are upset by this, but comparing Brazil to Serbia might not be creating the sympathetic picture they were hoping for, given Serbia''s complicity in the ethnic cleansing of various groups in the former Yugoslavia.
