All of this "yellow cake" was obtained by Iraq before the 1991 war called "Desert Storm", and it was well known to the United States that Saddam possessed it. If anyone thought that the "yellow cake" posed a threat to the United States, it would have been seized during that war. But, apparently Bush, Sr., and his advisers did not think it posed a threat so they left it in Saddam''s hands. Of course, anyone with any intelligence knew then, and knows now, that Saddam did not have the equipment and the technology to process "yellow cake" into enriched uranium for use in an atomic bomb. Israel had already destroyed Iraq''s only nuclear facility. And, according to the information in the article, the "yellow cake" could not even be used to make a "dirty bomb." The release of this information at this time to an electorate that is sorely uneducated or under educated smacks of an election year ploy to inject more unreasoned fear for use as a propaganda weapon in the campaign of John McSame.

1. First, _yellowcake_ is a uranium concentrate obtained from leach solutions (heavy metal). It is NON-WEAPONIZABLE ------ unless enriched thru costly, gas centrifuge and other means.
2. Conversely, WMD refers to nuclear, biological, chemical and radiological weapons. The fact remains about WMD: None were found. But, in the run up to Iraq, Bush and Cheney did lie, repeatedly and indisputably, about WMD. Whats more, Bush himself has publicly admitted Iraq had no links to either 911 or al Qaeda: Iraq was based upon lies and agitprop
3. The yellowcake was no mystery: U.N. inspectors have known about it since BEFORE the 1991 Gulf War. Its removal was primarily based on environmental concerns.
4. There was no evidence of any yellowcake dating from after 1991, the official said.

You''re a McCain hack, that''s trying to dissuade as many people as possible from voting for Obama.

Well, it certainly is great for the Iraqi people that the ''yellowcake'' which brought them Bush''s war has been removed from their country at US taxpayers expense. Do some math: 3500 barrels or 550 metric tons times $1.20 per lb(now 1/2 of that amount). Does that cover the cost of using American soldiers to repackage, transport to Baghdad, load onto 37 flights, and an American ship trip of 8500 miles. The Iraqi gov''t SOLD it to Cameco.

This is a blaring reason why the WAR must go on. There is a lot of profit there for somebody and the presence of soldiers makes it possible to work, just like this article supports.

Just think how informative this report of stockpiled yellowcake would have been prior to the 2004 election. What I find perplexing is the fact that a "senior US offical" hiding under ''condition of annonymity'' would give this information to AP on a weekend during the time when Congress is on vacation?
