Would Big Oil be crazy enough to invest Billions in Iraq? Think Saudi Arabia and the not too distant past. American Big Oil developed their oil fields and handed them the finished product; making them the wealthiest humans on the planet... yet they hate America. 15 of the 19 hijackers involved in the US 9/11 attack were Saudi, Bin Lauden is Saudi, they treat their women like cattle and "kill the infidels" (non-believers of Islam) is their motto. Why are we at war in Iraq ? We should be at war in Saudi Arabia. They have the entire world''s standard of living in a stranglehold. Our way of life is being threatened and America (Or Big Oil) doesn''t need to develop any more Middle East Oilfields. We need to wake up !!

Add to that the possible 800 Billion (Yes BILLION) barrels of oil from shale deposits in the American West... There''s plenty to work with in America ! The point is - Why spend that money in Iraq ? Spend it to become independent by developing local resources and/or alternative fuels.

Hey wjm47,
"Instead of paying to restore the oil fields of Iraq... why doesn''''t America simply develop their own oilfields? There''''s no doubt that would be cheaper in the longrun."

Excellent question. Simple answer. America got no oil even in the areas the NeoCons demand to open for exploration. In 1993, congress opened 80% of the areas NeoCons wanted to open for oil exploration. However, the oil companies found no oil there. That''s the simple logical answer. Now, the hanging question is what''s on the remaining 20%? According to an oil executive, very little possibility of oil.

Mother Theresa quote-

"In another sense, no one in the world who prizes liberty and human rights can feel anything but a strong kinship with America. Yours is the one great nation in all of history that was founded on the precept of equal rights and respect for all humankind, for the poorest and weakest of us as well as the richest and strongest."

Taking from the poor and middle to give to the big oils.

Opposite of Mother Theresa. America is evil.

Re: "Iraq Invites Big Oil To Bump Up Production"

The installed puppet "government" of Iraq has no legitimate authority to do anything, much less to help war profiteers and oil pirates like Chevron-Texaco and Exxon-Mobil plunder the resources of Iraq.

Gee, the Saudis are pumping more oil and even the Iraqis are giving contracts to our favorite big oil execs to up the quantities, and yet, the price continues to rise. How interesting. Of course, let''s pretend this has nothing to do with Bush''s hands off approach to the corrupt mafiosos of the speculators market.

The earth has been dying since the day it was created...yes we are hastening the process with the burning of fossil fuels, but the end is not going to be at our hands...it is out of our hands at that point. So stop pointing the proverbial finger everyone (even though you are all good at passing the buck)and just try to live a good life and help each other through the rough times ahead. Blame never solved any problem.
