After seven years, there should be NO BIG PICTURE but then we don''''t have "normal heads" running our government...

None of our elected leaders are normal. They''d kill themselves within days after hearing and reading the constant screaming and crying and whining about what pieces of putrid garbage they are from all knowing gods like you.

You bet they are not normal.

terroeislam/Demsunity,

Who says liberals don''t like the U.S. in the Middle East? Not most liberals.

What we don''t like is an ineffective Middle East policy which fails to make us more secure and only serves to empower our enemies.

That''s what we''ve gotten from conservatives. While we occupy and protect a ****** dominated government aligned with Iran, the Taliban has arisen from the ashes to threaten democracy in both Afghanistan(where we had them on the run but pulled the rug from under our own troops to hunt faux WMD in Iraq) and in Pakastan(where we allowed them to cross the border from Afghanistan).

This debate isn''t about ideology, it''s about competence. It wasn''t liberal Democrats who allowed the Taliban to come back to life and threaten peace, it was conservatives.

John McCain judgement and experience that only comes with age:

"There''s not a history of clashes that are violent between Sunnis and Shiahs. So I think they can probably get along." [MSNBC, 4/23/03]

" I believe that the success will be fairly easy." [CNN, 9/24/02]

"We''re not going to get into house-to-house fighting in Baghdad. " [CNN, 9/29/02]

"But the point is that, one, we will win this conflict. We will win it easily." [MSNBC, 1/22/03]

"But I believe that the Iraqi people will greet us as liberators." [NBC, 3/20/03]

"It''s clear that the end is very much in sight." [ABC, 4/9/03]

"This is a mission accomplished.." [This Week, ABC, 12/14/03]

WHERE IS BIN LADEN? That has really been the only relevant question that needs asking since the invasion of Afghanistan.

Over SIX years of war. Civil rights breached by our commander in chief. Internationally recognized torture sanctioned by the White House. Two invaded and currently occupied countries. Hundreds of thousands dead, including OVER 4500 American soldiers. Billions of our tax dollars spent, and yes, are still being spent to this very moment.

Iraq, which had NOTHING to do with 9/11, is now an occupied country which will implode when we get out of it, whether that happens one, two, ten or five hundred years from now. A society that CHOOSES to be ruled by religion cannot become a democracy; it can only be a theocracy with voting cards.

Bin Laden still lives. The mastermind of 9/11 still walks free.

The one, simple word for this is: failure. No amount of deception, indignation or wailing by republicons can change these facts.

Failure of Bush. Failure of Cheney. Failure of the republicans.

Time for a change.

THE DEMONIC-RAT DOCTRINE,,,

On February 16, 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt said the "the defense of Saudi Arabia is vital to the defense of the United States." On February 14, 1945, while returning from the Yalta Conference, Roosevelt met with King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia on the Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal, the first time a U.S. president had visited the Persian Gulf region.

The Carter Doctrine was a policy proclaimed by President of the United States Jimmy Carter in his State of the Union Address on 23 January 1980, which stated that the United States would use military force if necessary to defend its national interests in the Persian Gulf region. The doctrine was a response to the 1979 invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union, and was intended to deter the Soviet Union%u2014the Cold War adversary of the United States%u2014from seeking hegemony in the Persian Gulf. After stating that Soviet troops in Afghanistan posed "a grave threat to the free movement of Middle East oil," Carter proclaimed:

Let our position be absolutely clear: An attempt by any outside force to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the United States of America, and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including military force.

Mr_totten,,,,

Let''s put it another way, There is not nearly the progress in Iraq as Bush or McBush says -- The U.S. is spending nearly $10 billion a month in Iraq and more than $2 billion a month in Afghanistan.

"Iraq''''s War has cost us in the War in Afhganistan --- More Failed Bush/McCain policies.

How do you know what "you folks" know about "about Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afhganistan or Israel".

Oh, since you consider yourself to be an expert on these matters maybe you want to spell Afghanistan correctly.

Gotta go on a picnic. Bye all
