An interesting idea that the troops will be increased in 2009. Have we all forgotten that in January of 2009 we will have a new president who may just say the hell with it and pull them all out of Irag ? Bush will be gone (unless he pulls a Mugabe on the grounds that God has appointed him) and have no say in the continuing maddness. As to congress having failed to act there is nothing the Democrats can do at the moment because Bush can simply vetoe anything they pass The real question is when will the Republicans realize that their only chance for re-election is to join the Democrats in impeaching Bush and Cheney otherwise they will be toast.

No, you idiots, it is not a surge, and the war is not escalating again. Rather, it is drawing down. They are replacing the troops that are coming home, and more are coming home than heading to Iraq. It''''s called a troop rotation, and it happens all the time.
