- What has happened in the last several months has disproved the notion that Israel is in danger from its Arab neighbors without the US acting like a big brother. Peace efforts are breaking out all over. None of them involve the US as a negiotiator or third party
If the US pulled out of the middle east completely and left it to manage its own affairs, it would be the best thing to happen to it and us. They would make progress on the diplomatic solving of problems and the US would save billions of dollars.

- I wonder if we will return this country to the Native Americans from whom we took it from in the first place.

If the Native Americans had defeated us, would you still be fighting them after 150 years, or would you now be sleeping in teepees?
The entire point is NOT that Israel is refusing to return the territory they took by force, but rather should Palestinians be condemned/blame and labeled as terrorists because they are continuing to fight/resist. - Reply to this comment
- What a statement on the effect of AIPAC! Only now, after the shrub admin has so wrecked US power and influence in the middle east that we are ineffectual, only now does Israel move towards peace with its long time enemies! AIPAC''s power and influence is at an alltime low, thanks again to shrub, and good things happen.

- trishab4 believes Israel''''s response to Hamas rocket fire is disproportionate.
So, trishab4, the U.S. should have ceased hostilities in WWII after the number of Japanese killed matched the number of Americans who died at Pearl Harbor?
You also don''''t mention that more rockets are fired at Israel each month than all of the rockets that were aimed at London by the Nazis during the entire 6 years of World War II.
As the article says, Hamas have proposed a cease-fire so they can re-arm. They''''re not interested in peace, only in the genocidal erasure of Israel from the map.
Under the Islamic doctrine of Al-Taqqiyeh, lying to non-Moslem infidels isn''''t just permitted, it''''s ENCOURAGED. Lying to an infidel isn''''t a sin, it''''s a VIRTUE.
Hamas should change its name to the Al-Taqqiyeh Army.

Are you saying (by that same reasoning) that we should have withdrawn from Iraq almost immediately after invading?
Or that there were 3000 already killed in Afghanistan and we should not have invaded Iraq in the first place? - Reply to this comment

-At times I think it''d be a good thing to erase those virtual lines that separate Nations and people, only allowing select/elite governing minorities to exploit their fellow subjects. I''m eager to see an effective central world government and freedom of movement from one location to another without resrtiction. Wealth and resources accessed by nationals regardless of race, gender, ethnic origin, or religion. - Reply to this comment

-What are you talking about? You idiot are positively comparing WW2 and Israel-Palestinians conflict? What an idiot! Many Regular Professional ARMIES involved in that war, not bandits firing crakers the other side of the fence...

- As for those who claim Israel is an illegal state, we can only assume they favor returning California, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to Mexican ownership.
..............
that would be swell......

If the Mexicans had NOT surrendered those states to the U S in an agreement to end the Mexican war, and were still fighting and dying, trying to regain their territory, then you could rightly compare the two situations.
However, Israel was fighting a war against several countries in the ME in 1967, not just the Palestinians.
The war ended when all of the ME countries withdrew EXCEPT the Palestinians.
Israel retained land they took forcefully from the Palestinians, and the Palestinians have never stopped fighting to get it back.
Regardless of who is right or wrong in the Israel-Palestinian conflict, I see no comparison between their situation and the Mexican war. - Reply to this comment
- They negotiated with Hamas? Didn''t they hear Bush say that was the same as Chamberlain appeasing Hitler? Bad Jews! Bad bad Jews!
Unless of course it''s only bad if a Democrat does it? - Reply to this comment

- The phony concern of the Islamic fascist states for their Palestinian "brothers and sisters" is nowhere more clear than in Egypt''s refusal to take responsibility for Gaza.
It serves the Islamic dictatorships far better to $hit on the Palestinians as it serves as a distraction to keep their own oppressed populations from turning on them for their incompetence. It''s an old, old tactic.
As for those who claim Israel is an illegal state, we can only assume they favor returning California, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to Mexican ownership.
After all, the USA seized that land in a war and has occupied it ever since.
