Probe Finds Pentagon Paid Nearly $8 Billion With Little Or No Oversight, Or Even Proof Of Work
- If McCain is elected there will never be accountability for this. I bet Bush sets the record for pardons before he leaves office... he will make Bill Clinton look like a light weight.

- Bush administration, "...relying too heavily on contractors to manage the war."
The two oilmen in the White House managed this war just fine ... for them, not America.
And to say - Senator McCain promises more of the same?
Vote out a Republican this November, and Americans have a chance to manage their money for the United States, not foreign kingdoms.
Here''s the worst crime of self-centered management:

- Now why aren''''t we getting paid back by the Iraqi Govt.? They are selling crude oil from Iraqi fields, but we are paying to rebuild thier govt. and infrastructure, as well as providing security and training for their police and soldiers ... for free. Why?

- "An internal audit of some $8 billion paid to U.S. and Iraqi contractors found that nearly every transaction failed to comply with federal laws or regulations aimed at preventing fraud, in some cases lacking even basic invoices explaining how the money was spent."
No surprise there.
"Of the money paid during a five-year period - from 2001 through 2006 - $7.8 billion in payments skirted billing rules with some violations egregious enough to invite potential fraud, warned the Defense Department''s inspector general."
No surprise there.
"The findings provided fresh fodder for anti-war Democrats, who say President Bush''s administration has turned a blind eye to the problem of corruption and fraud by relying too heavily on contractors to manage the war. "
No surprice there, ecpecially considering GWB and Cheney''s close ties to Haliburton and KBG. Just more $$ in the bank for them both.
"Payments that are not properly supported do not provide the necessary assurance that funds were used as intended," the IG concluded.
That should be a no brainer.
