- Obama can fix all of this, and he will when he gets his message out to all of the people in all of the United States. All 60 of them. According to him, he has visited 57 states, with one to go, not including Alaska and Hawaii. Yeah... he''s the guy we want.

There is no getting over the fact that decreased tax rates actually INCREASE government revenue!
Under Reagan, marginal tax rates were cut from a top of 70% to 28%. Revenues (from all taxes) to the U.S. Treasury nearly doubled. According to the Budget of the U.S. Government, FY 1997, Office of Management and Budget. Revenues increased from roughly $500 billion in 1980 to $1.1 trillion in 1990. - Reply to this comment

We just came out of a ten year drought; water is always short out here. It could be that we are all living someplace where a disaster might happen. We are overdue for a big earthquake ourselves. - Reply to this comment
- Again, let me reiterate...

You can reiterate all you want, but that doesn''t change the facts, and you have all of your "facts" wrong. I suppose that''s why the ONLY thing you can do is "reiterate". Thinking, reading, and researching, is out of the question for you, apparently. Or are you just joking? Given your screen name, and the absurdity of your posts, I can see how you could be just joking about all of this. The sorry thing is that there are other people who think like this who are dead serious. If this isn''t a joke, please, please, please, do yourself a favor and read about past levels of CO2, temperature and climate changes over the past million years, how much manmade CO2 is actually in the atmosphere and how little it contributes to the greenhouse effect. You can''t possibly believe all of this stuff about how "mother earth" is suffering if you actually read the facts and not something that isn''t trying to scare you. - Reply to this comment
- Why does nature often tend to attack the neediest of humans? To put them out of their misery on Earth? Who knows?
I sure wish mother nature would do something about some of the CEOs in the United States - Reply to this comment

"
Everyone knew they were living on borrowed time. It was a $20 billion fix, too much for New Orleans, too much for Louisiana, but NOT too much for the federal government. There''s a special branch of the federal govt, the Army Corp of Engineers, who get paid to fix these kinds of problems. Instead, someone paid them to look the other way. The Feds built Hoover Dam, Grand Collee Dam, and the levees that existed in New Orleans (flawed though they were). That''s what they DO, with our tax dollars. The problem is, since Reagan cut taxes in 1980, there just hasn''t been alot of money for that sort of thing.
The Am Society of Civil Engineers estimates that American infrastruture needs an immediate $1.6 trillion investment just to come up to code. The money''s not there, so expect MORE Katrina events in the future. We''ve been living off gov''t spending from the past. And all we have to give to our children is a hostile neighborhood called Iraq and a $10 trillion debt. Just, don''t blame it on New Orleans, and I won''t blame the drought you''re about the experience in your desert on YOU. - Reply to this comment

- I find it ironic so many athiests and agnostics do not believe in God when they have no proof that God doesn''t exist.

- I grew up in the desert and I''ve never been to New Orleans, although I did hear it was a nice place to visit. All the way back in the early 1970''s I was looking at maps and atlases and noting the amount of water around New Orleans and that the city''s elevation was and still is lower than that of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ponchatrane. Before I ever had a college class behind me, I made the comment to a friend that it looked to me like New Orleans was a disaster waiting to happen. I was told I was just stupid and didn''t know what I was talking about. But I have wondered, if I, a mere desert dweller, could figure New Orleans was a disaster waiting to happen almost 35 years ago without ever seeing the city, I would like to know why the city fathers, the councilmen, the mayor, and the Governor of Louisana didn''t figure that out long before Katrin ever happened? Holland is below sea level, and they have levees that keep the sea back. New Orleans and Louisana officials should have gone to Holland and studied how to build levees to keep out the North Sea. If the levees had been built to withstand the worst case scenario weather, then the city wouldn''t have had to go through such a terrible disaster? Furthermore, if the people of New Orleans don''t insist on better levees and how to pay for them, they ought to get the heck out of there and let the swamps have it back. Go ahead, tell me I''m heartless and clueless.

- What can''t global warming do?

Apparently it can''t convince the greedy, nature-hating, short-sighted, little braindead conservatives it exists.
I find it ironic so many rightwingers believe SO strongly in God without an ounce of proof. But when it comes to global warming there isn''t enough evidence in the universe to convince them of it''s existence. - Reply to this comment

- we''''''''ll get Obama elected and mother earth will be saved. You might as well accept it; you will all learn to live responsibly and pay your fair share of c02 taxes.
I can''t believe all the people who think Obama is God and is going to save everything. The forces of nature have been visited upon the earth for about 4.7 billion years. Study geology processes and learn something. We have had ice ages, and little ice ages, and warming cycles. A CO2 tax isn''t going to change the climate and stop tornatos and earthquakes, and hurricanes, and forest fires, and on and on and so on. If it is money that is going to change the climate, go on over to the Treasure Department and have them print some up. However, make sure to tell them not to print it on paper as that uses up trees as that is bad for the environment. - Reply to this comment

That''s a hoot. Global Warming causes earthquakes now too? What can''t global warming do? - Reply to this comment
- Again, let me reiterate: I%u2019m appalled at the administration%u2019s lack of response to the global warming earthquakes, hurricanes, and cyclones as well. We have no comprehensive strategy in place whatsoever, let alone a detailed plan of action to mitigate the effects of these quakes, and mother earth continues to suffer while the administration refuses to go forward and do what%u2019s right for mother earth.
.
How long must we sit idly by while our mother continues to suffer from the warming taking place at a feverish pace? How long must our mother suffer before we have proper c02 taxes put into place? How long must the destruction of mother earth take place before we finally put responsible plans into action? How long must we wait until we beef up our corn ethanol production? At least Obama wants to cut c02 pollution by 80%; he is definitely our best hope.
.
We the people call upon our leaders to implement a comprehensive antiglobal warming strategy at once and work in coordination with state and federal officials; these quakes, cyclones and storms continue to worsen and the quicker we stop the warming the sooner we will see these quakes cease. We need action now.
