- Well, I am horrified that they will not allow people to come and help in a time of crisis. It is my opinion then that we must leave them well alone or else we will once again be accused of trying to take over.. I was horrified with the horror there but after their response to our offer of help, I feel that it is now time we forget helping others and just looked after our own.. No matter what we do, people from other countries just see us as interfering.

- Should we go over there and destroy their country in the name of ''freedom,'' like Iraq? Oh, wait, they don''t have WMDs or oil. If the government won''t help their own citizens in a crisis like this, we should not send aid. It''s only going to fatten up the upper fluff there anyway. Horrible shame.

- The US just froze their bank accounts and put in sanctions so they can''t buy food, etc. and is now trumpeting that they don''t want to accept aid and be grateful. Let''s try that with China, they just killed a bunch of monks too.

- All the illegal Aliens are sucking up all the benefits that the american taxpayer would receive.
Concerning this article - i think it''s time for the US and United Nations to step back and let China proove it''s commitment to Burma and the good relationship those two countries enjoy.
The only reason we don''t attack Burma is because they are protected by the largest (communist) country in the world. So, as I stated above, Let''s let these two communist governements figure out their own issues. - Reply to this comment

- Gee, with Iraq and Afghanistan as examples of how the US "helps out" I can certainly understand why the military leaders in Myanmar don''t want to trust Bush and the US to deliver aid.

- One way to thin the herd. Population control for a week or two. By the end of next month, they will have replaced the 100,000 & then some. Poop people love to reproduce. Doesnt matter if they can afford to raise the kids or not. "Birth control" is a dirty word.
I really don''t care. I wont be giving money if the college kids start shaking a can in my face downtown. The ones that want me to be a member of Greenpeace or give $50 to the Republican Party. The world is full of "tragedy." I don''''t care anymore. S c r e w ''''em.
I''''m not Bill Gates. I don''''t have enough money to save the world. If it doesn''''t affect me or my family or friends at work, I DO NOT CARE. Leave me alone.

They show up here @ CBS NEWS. They''''re always praying for us sinners, heathens & pagans. The wretched non-believers who haven''''t been washed in the blood of Jesus yet. we''''re preached to on TV 24-7. Bibles in hotel rooms. Every time you turn around, you hear: "Have a blessed day!" Bless this, mofo!

- Well the idiot public officials in New Orleans, and Lousiana had the best part of a weeks warning about Katrina, and they were too stupid to get the people out of the city or even to move transportation buses to high enough ground so they could be used to move people out. So all the stupid government officials aren''t in Burma. As for FEMA, they provide assistance after some calamity has happened; they don''t have any role in preventing it from happening. If idiots want to build a city underwater, they are going to get their feet wet sooner or later.

- To bad Bush and ''Brownie'' weren''t Johnny-on-the-spot in New Orleans when Katrina hit and thousands of people were busy starving at the Super Dome.

- It would be a boon if the Bush Administration provided aid to the United Nations knowing that our money is going to a reputable agency. In short, I can''t understand why India''s meteorological warning wasn''t heeded. The Burmese would have had two days to reach higher land. NASA, NOAA and the NRO could also have given adequate warning and provided information about response to the cyclone. In time, this will pass, but I pause to ponder why? This is tragic.

It''s too bad you don''t have anything intelligent to say and choose to make comments solely to get a rise out of people.

- There has been recent loud complaints about the armies control of the country. Now that their is a natural disaster and I know it is callous, now is a good time to get rid of the general who control the army. Giving free donations to this country only allows the generals to consolidate their hold on the population. Thus all this free aid will go to feed the Generals wives, mistresses and children before the population ever sees any of the food. No wonder the generals look well feed and health while the population starves. Yes America you are about to make a mistake and allow the genrals to retain control. If the population feels a little hunger in their stomach and see the well feed generals riding around in such spendid automobiles with such lovely protection, the will fight with fire and determination and overthrow the yoke that has been oppressing them for ages

- The Myanmar deathtoll could have been avoided, if you people had just warned those people. It doesn''''t matter what your politics is. Or what you believe in. All ya gotta do is say: "Hey! Seek cover! Our satellites are showing a big storm coming your way!" There''''s no .. ''''well are you a christian?'''' ''''or a buddhist'''' ''''or a muslim''''? There''''s none of that.
Just: "Hey! There''''s a storm coming your way! Seek cover!"
