Folks,
Greed which is inherent in Capitalism is Evil. Farmers are switching to ethanol because they get more $$$ per acre. Who cares about cutting the supply of fruits and vegetables (food) to humans. Mr. Capitalism prefers $$$ over eating.

cont.

Those of you who believe that opening up drilling here and more in Alaska and off shore are missing a point. Even if we allow that to happen nothing is going to change as far as gas prices go. Any oil that is found will belong to the companies that find it. They will be free to sell it wherever they please. And of course they will sell it for as much as it will bring on the open market. The only way to prevent this is to nationalize and that just plain won''t happen. So go ahead and spoil what little wilderness there is and polute the beaches so the big oil companies can make even more profit. And while we''re at it let''s step up the bio-fuel production so we can continue to cut back on the food supply. The next time you get hungry have a shot of oil and wash it down with a glass of gas.

lovegetpeace...Your points are very accurate. For years people have made jokes and laughed at Jimmy Carter. Being the spineless wimp that I am I never had the guts to defend him. Yes, maybe it''s true that he wasn''t a great president but I don''t care what anyone says, he is a good man. He has been honest and he truly cares about people. All people. Back in the 1970''s he tried to warn the American people about the coming problems with oil and they laughed at him. He gave an interview to Playboy magazine where he answered their questions honestly and directly and they made a joke out of it. Then when the great Reagan came along he gutted all regulation and when the Arabs turned the oil back on he abandoned any and all attempts at conservation and new energy sources. For this he is a hero. Now look where we are. This oil situation has now gotten out of control and it doesn''t matter who is elected it is only going to get worse. At one point we were starting to get on track to lessen our dependence of oil imports but we lost sight of that goal and have left ourselves wide open to being raped by big oil. No one ever talked about the connection of oil to the food supply. Perhaps if we the people had known things would be different. So now we are going to have to make painful adjustments and I hope we have what it takes to do so. Now all you Carter haters out there can take your shots at my post. But I stand by what I have written here.

No word yet from our beloved prophet-The Goracle. He''s in seclusion, meditating his way (gorging) to the next big idea.
The current "vision"-turning food into fuel-is working just fine,as it will definitely succeed in solving the "global warming" crisis-by allowing millions to starve

Folks,
-On July 15, 1979, president Jimmy Carter states "we have Crisis of Confidence" with our addiction for oil.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/car
ter/filmmore/ps_crisis.html

Jimmy Carter calls for major Conservation and Alternative Energy missions by Americans.

-21-Jan-1981, Republican President Ronald Reagan dumps any idea of Energy Conservations and Alternative Energy.

-Since then, America addiction for oil explodes.

-Now, comes India and China with an increasely strong demand for oil.

-Not Surprised, world Oil Supply crashes with world Oil demand.

-As expected, a barrel of Oil prices go thru the Roof.

-Since all Economies depend on Oil, other commodities costs go thru the roof.

-Poor nations cannot afford food.

-World Hunger is on crisis.

-Millions are dying from hunger.

Thank you Americans for your great sacrifices and true leadership.

Instead of throwing money at these countries, which never makes it to the ordinary citizen, why not send technology and teach these folks how to do it on their own. I think in the long run this would benefit them much more and open up markets now closed to them.

Unprecedented greed and global power struggles, lack of population control, destruction of our eco systems by man, are all to blame. The bible predicted all these things on a huge global scale at the end times. We are there folks and soon it may be you!

cbscrash07....You bring up some good points. There is certainly a direct coralation between population size and food supply. As people are able to eat better and become healthier and the infant mortality rate decreases they tend to produce more people and the cycle starts all over again. One helpful thing would be an increase in the water supply but nothing is really being done to try to achieve that goal. If you think of the Earth as a giant birds nest and the eggs keep hatching, sooner or later the nest cannot support the population and the nest becomes fouled. We need to stop laying eggs. (very feeble attempt at humor).

We here in America have watched for decades as people in other countries starve. There have been many attempts made to help but none have been effective. It is indeed painful to watch others, especially children, starve but it unpreventable. There are so many sides to the problem that it is impossible to attack them all at once. As soon as one problem is solved another comes to take its place. This is not a liberal or conservative problem. And now, we are starting to see the beginnings of hunger right here in the good old USA. Everything is connected to oil. As the price of oil goes up so will everything else. EVERYTHING! Like it or not we are going to have to make adjustments in the way we live and they aren''t going to be pleasant. This is NOT a liberal vs conservative issue. It will have an equal effect on both sides. Instead of name calling we should be problem solving.

I think the problem is the success of the anti poverty programs. More people have more money to buy food. This impacts supply. If supply is constant then for each person who leaves poverty and famine some one else has it worse. I think the main problem with food production is water. "Food grows where water flows". If you could build solar powered desalination plants in Africa and provide constant water to the interior their would be no food shortages. Same for the US if we could provide economical water to the desert region we could increase our food production several fold.

This is how a good Christian, or any other type of moral human, should act, thank you.

As for LibH8er/singinrick, if he wasn''t the raging warmongering hypocrite that he is, he''d shut his pie-hole and look into giving himself over to a true charity.

btw, your limbaugh has no more care for the truth about liberals than he does about anybody else, least of all ying yangs like his dim fans...

If rush isn''t lying (like any sentence he uses with the word "liberal" in it), he''s setting you up for a big lie.

Oh, I see.....the old ''keepin da man down'' routine. So let me make sure I understand. Democrats have been lying to blacks for deecades....vote for me and I''ll get you this and that......you vote for them and you continue to live in poverty. Keep up the good work. You guys are dumber than a bag of rocks.

I give even more than most Americans. I have 3 businesses and one of them the proceeds wholey go to "Operation Smile" a program to correct cleft pallets in children around the world.
I also donate money every month to an orphanage in China and another in Mexico. My wife and I our very concerned about where this planet is going. Bush has created a much more unsafe planet for our children and our government spends too much time on war and not on helping the people. These are only a few of the things I have done to help the people of this planet. What have you done?
