- hungry1968,
Certain policies of the World Bank/IMF and huge subsidies to U.S. farmers mean that a good portion of the world IMPORTS food from US. Because many farmers are getting bigger subsidies to provide biofuel, many are not making food for consumption. The food that is made for consumption has doubled or tripled in price. This is being passed on to countries were people are spending already up to 75% of their income on food. If they are spending already 75% of their income on food and food is doubled, how do you think they will cope?????? - Reply to this comment
- FloydZepp,
That''''s not exactly true. Our policy to turn corn into fuel is fueling the food shortages, so we are directly involved in the misery of others.

How is the corn grown in America, causing food shortages in foreign countries?
India has stopped all exports on rice - is that because America is using corn as fuel? No.
Haiti is having food riots because farmers are running out of fuel, because it''s so expensive they can''t afford to buy more. Is that because America is using corn as fuel? No. - Reply to this comment

- Bush ordered $200 million in emergency aid.
Down the road we will hear that less than 1/4 of that aid has made it to the people it was intended for.
More then half will be taken by Halliburton and the rest by war lords or other corrupt governments.
We pass out more money with no oversite and wonder why we have to pay high taxes. - Reply to this comment

The same people who support trillion dollar bombing campaigns on poor countries ARE the same ones who complain about providing starving people with food!
