If one can recall in 92 when Clinton was running for president one of the proposals of his campaign was to convert every auto in the US to run off of natural gas which we have a abundance of. The cost was $650 per vehicle which he proposed then for the government to pay for. The cost of natural gas then would have equated to .65 a gallon of gas(oil). This is only one method of ending the rising high energy cost and our continued dependency on foreign energy. If done correctly this along with others would also create US jobs helping end our unemployment crisis.

There have been riots in Bangladesh, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Mozambique and Senegal. Rising prices have hit poor countries like Peru (and even developed countries like Italy and the United States).

A confluence of problems are driving the problem. They include soaring petroleum prices, which increase the cost of fertilizers, transport and food processing; rising demand for meat and dairy in China and India, resulting in increased costs for grain, used for cattle feed; and the ever-rising demand for raw materials to make biofuels.

As of December, 37 countries faced food crises, and 20 had imposed some sort of food-price controls. The U.N.''s World Food Program says it''s facing a $500 million shortfall in funding this year to feed 89 million needy people.


Currently throughout the US there is a petition being distributed for all truckers to go on strike due to rising fuel cost which is one of the primary reasons of the rising prices of food. This should be expanded to include all rail workers and ship workers who load and unload them. And finally expanded to all citizens of the US it is the only way the politicians will finally listen to the citizens.

We also do lots in America; at least until it''s perceived it''s cheaper to shove jobs offshore. A person I''d consider a good friend, a Republican who is against taxation, also said that we should tax companies that offshore and re-balance the playing field. Never mind product quality that can be a valid concern.

Exactly right, the scam also raises the value of farmland which in turn raises the property taxes.

We have plenty of our OWN citizens who dont get enough food, and plenty who lost jobs and homes- time to cut the apron strings on these foreign overpopulated countries who keep popping babies out like its a relay race knowing WE will feed their behinds.
