In the Daily telegraph, July 22, 2006 Condoleeza Rice stated her main objective in the middle east was not to push a ceasefire in Lebanon, but to cause an isolation of Syria and Iran. The strategic objective is all tied to oil and oil pipelines.
The Israel Turkey pipeline has been in the works for some time now. In April of 2006 Israel & Turkey made their announcement which included four pipelines which will bypass Syria & Lebanon. The source of the oil is the BTC pipeline from the Caspian Sea Region. Shareholders in the BTC pipeline are: British Petroleum, AzBTC, Chevron, Statoil, TPAO, ENI, Total, Itochu, INPEX, ConocoPhillips & Amerada Hess. Another very important factor on the war with Lebanon is that Israel will have a strategic role in protecting the pipeline and transportation corridor out of Ceyhan Turkey. The strategy will weaken Russian oil''s role in central asia and also isolate Iran.

Commanding Officers aboard Navy vessels are EXPECTED to take ANY and ALL actions necessary to ensure the safety of their vessel. This means they can face disciplinary action if they fail to do so.

All vessels operating on the high seas have the right to self defense. When operating in international waters, U.S. vessels can and will exercise that right when threatened. The Iranian gunboats in this incident should consider themselves as fortunate. They may not be so fortunate next time as they are certainly no match against an Aegis Cruiser or Destroyer. If they continue the harassment or decide to engage in further threatening postures, they will certainly end up as fish food at the bottom of the straights.

"Iran almost did it. It wants to fight the US, but it wants the world to believe that the US fired the first shot.

The US doesn''t need to have one troop in Iran should a war break out. All the US needs to do is destroy the military infrastructure, disable major power plants, and let the Iranian population take back their country from the theocratic tyrants."

Gosh.

And then are all the people going to rush out and great us with flowers?

Great.

But what about the theocratic tyrant Bush, who has subverted our beloved Constitution?

If you''re trying to save us from indefinite detention in secret prisons without charge or representation, and the institutionalized torture and murder of prisoners within them, don''t bother.

The United States, Iran, China, Russia, and Cuba now have the exact same human rights policies.

Whatever their dictators say is law. Period.

I seem to remember Bush and Cheney, long before 9/11, advocating the restructuring of the US military forces to make them able to fight in two theaters at once.

Now we know why, they had already planned to invade Iraq and Iran, long before the 9/11 incident, which was their perfectly timed trigger event. I cannot believe now that 9/11 was a "terrorist attack" from some sleeper cell of peed off Muslims.

For those who posit that Bush''s crimes were justified because there haven''t been any more attacks, I posit that this is so because Bush so far hasn''t needed any more, that they in fact controlled the people who carried out the WTC attacks.

Cheney wasn''t lying when, during the last election, he warned that if the Democrats win, there would be more attacks. He wasn''t lying because had Bush lost by too wide a margin for the GOP to steal, he would have ordered more attacks.

Kind of reminds me of Naustrodamis and how three ships would be scuttled and blamed on the enemy to start WW3.

On a more cheery note - I wonder how the US would feel with three Iranian missile warships three miles off the Coast of New York?

Me thinks the Navy cries like little girls after acting like a bully. I.e., Act like a Nazi, cry like a Jew. Old tactic.
