The "national guard" is being used to stave off the surges of opposition in the borders of foreign lands, (but global "american" corporations know no boundaries, fire departments are being called upon to conduct police roles of search with a little espionage thrown in, social security designed to provide financial security for the masses of americans who live within the frame of the "cost of living" is being robbed and it''s resources spent on unintended purposes. To add insult to injury, SS is called a failed system. It''s all about power and the power doesn''t belong to the people of the United States. If any big global corporation had it''s financial assets robbed such an organization too would fail its intended role which for "american" global corporations is to efficiently line the pockets of the global elite who are out of Bush''s mouth, his base. "Many call you the haves, and the have mores, I call you my base".--so says the anti-social pervert. These people face the same mortality and with their arrogance and sociopathy they scoff at the "bleeding heart liberals", the "do gooders". Justice awaits their sorry souls. They will scoff at such words but will not escape the consequences. Fundamentalist "christian" hypocritical judgmental sleazy snake oil salesman preacher men/politicians included.

More troops are needed in Afghanistan to protect the contractors building the Caspian sea pipeline. The Caspian sea area holds a third of the worlds oil and south asia is the target market. Iran is also a target of Cheney, because it would be cheaper to pass through part of Iran with the pipeline than the current plan. Eventually the line goes through Pakistan, India and Nepal. This is the real deal!!!!

Interesting logic, next you''ll be telling us the price of gas is too high because there are too many cars on the road, we need to keep the gas prices high to reduce traffic! Same logic! LOL

The National Guard used to be a place where wealthy kids used to hide so they did not have to fight in a war. That is where our beloved president hid during Vietnam before going AWOL.

Now it is a means to support an illegal war without having to re-start the draft. Since people are not joining that much anymore this administration has decided to ensure the value of the dollar is worthless - this will make more people poorer and thus the poorer people will join the military to earn a living.

Who said this administration was dumb - well, okay, there''s the President.

Here''s to a poor America - so we can get more soldiers - to fight.

You are all right, National Guard Soldiers are here to help us out in case of homeland emergencies. Why do you think during Hurricane Katrina disaster the NG., was slow getting there, They were in Iraq? My husband spent 18 mos. overseas in Iraq. I expect him to be called up for another tour, soon. I love all the NG. soldiers and reserve soldiers. They do their jobs just as well as the active duty personel. Most of the NG. and reservists are ex active duty members just trying to finish up, before their retirement.

What does "National Guard" mean? Bush lovers will say that guard troops knew they might be deployed overseas, but I think it''''s a travesty to leave us unprotected at home.

If the war''''s important, it''''s important enough to draft people from all walks of life.

Well said. The best thing that could happen to this country would be to bring back the draft and to make it apply to females, too. Once there''s a chance that little Johnny or little Mary might get sent off to the M.East to get their pretty little heads blown off, I suspect the average Joe Six Pack might actually take an interest in what''s going on in the world, and what their esteemed president is up to.

Of all the phony reasons that were given to get us into this war, the one we are stuck with is that Saddam was being mean to people, and we had to go save those people from him and teach them proper manners. In order to support this war now, you have to pretend to love Muslims, and to have cared enough about Muslims Saddam was mistreating to want to go to war to help them. Funny thing is, I don''t know any Bush supporters who like Muslims very much.

It''s kind of like going to a rally to protect trees that you don''t care about because there''s a cute girl going who you want to sleep with. You get there and say "I love these trees so much!!!", then you tell your buddies later at the bar you hate trees and don''t care who cuts them down.

"only 30 avg gi deaths per month"

Tell that to the 30 families they left behind.

Every American and Iraqi death in this war was needless, pointless and completely preventable. A tragic waste of life.
