Here are two reasons why Chavez keeps winning elections and why Venezuelans cannot bring themselves to vote again for the two parties that shared power for 35 years of "democracy" before Chavez won his first presidential elections in 1996:
While those two parties kept alternating their elected leaders at the presidential palace, Venezuela made in oil revenues 30 times the amount of money the US spent during the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after WW2.
Where the f'''' did that money go? It''''s amazing and very sad that that country has nothing to show for, and I mean nothing, for all that money.
The second reason, and why Venezuelans are not impressed with a "free market" economy, is what happened there in 1994: The directors of Banco Latino, the second largest bank in Venezuela at the time, decided to take all the bank money for themselves and flee the country.
That left 1.5 million Venezuelans without a penny to their name.
Hundreds of people committed suicide after that and the country was left with the strong impression that capitalism is not the way to go in Venezuela.
Whatever you think of Chavez you have to respect the decision the majority of country has made over and over again to keep this man in power and the reasons behind it.

The faithful followers of chroni-capitalism, through which neo-fascist policies has rendered some Americans slave to demagoguery and egoistic pragmatism.

The Kennedy administration authored the same demagoguery against Castro, when he did exactly as American colonists, to rid their/his country of British/capitalist hegemonic tyranny.

Now, standing at the "cross-roads", Hugo Chavez speaks identically, and some Americans have the audacity to label him El Diablo.

He''s not el diablo, for waging a war against neo-fascist discourse masqueraded as capitalism are you people insane to think American corporations have the right to "loot and pillage" Venezuela''s economy for its own self-aggrandizement leaving Venezuelans "penniless paupers".

Either you people are incredibly insane or vehemently apathetic, how can you fix words to preclude any country should genuflect to Americans, kneel down and subordinate themselves, to what, to us..

You irrational people think countries like Venezuela, Cuba, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, Iran, Nigeria, etc. don''t have a right to spearhead their own economies.

HOW INSANE AND HYPOCRITICAL!

WHAT WAS THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR ABOUT?

A PASSIVE SURRENDER.

The problem with most Americans you convinced yourselves into believing "the truth is a lie" and "a lie is the truth".

Most of you bring up nonsense neo-fascist rhetoric trying to support your bogus argument, e.g. more poverty, crime, etc., when the U.S. is leading ahead globally in crime and poverty [considering we are the richest country in the world].

El Diablo resides here in the White House and in the collective consciousness of "some" Americans that think a hostile encroachment on someone else''s land is "right" if we lie to ourselves and call it "democracy".

let the man rule his country.
Castro has been left alone.
The only people crying about Cuba are the ones that left a HUGE family fortune behind - and they do whine about it.

You''re wasting your time trying to argue matters of faith. The funny thing is, Bush has betrayed his evangelical base by doing nothing to stop existing stem cell research, not going after Roe v Wade, not introducing federal legislation against same-*** marriage, and not catching Bin Laden as well as racking up body counts and the debt. The debt and body count are all that matters to most of us, but the other matters really matter to evangelicals.

Bush has destroyed his party. People are going to continue to vote for Democrats through 2008 just because of the lies, the deceit, the spending and the body count.

Saudi Arabia and Iran are fools for selling Oil to the West. They don''t know the USA wants to suck them dry, then tell them the money they paid is worthless?
America knows how to cripple nations without firing a shot. Just suck their Oil away. That is called the War of Business.
