Personal Victory?? I thought it was the troops on the ground, but their sacrifice is secondary in politics.

Countries have leaders and armies. The leaders tell the armies who to fight. Whether the war is just or not, armies fight at the direction of their leaders. Osama Bin Laden and other terrorist leaders have no problem with sendings others out as terrorists, murderers, and suicide bombings. It isn''t rational to expect leaders to do the dirty work.

This incident can be seen as a opportunity, I have read through some of the posts from the morning on and what has struck me is that posters on all sides of issues that would not normally agree have for the majority in different shapes and forms articulate the same message. This is a miscarriage of justice, not US justice but world justice as every norm of society has been through out with this punishment of the victim. Seize upon this common ground, lay all politics/ religion preferentials aside and continue to communicate to one another as been demonstrated here.If we can jointly see the injustice here then why should we turn a blind eye to the other injustices that occur not only abroad but at home.

Without oil and gas, the Middle East is irrelevant. Those poor women--such self-righteous, ugly, hate-filled dogs for men. It''s time for U.S. women and enlightened men to rise up with women living in slavery and injustice worldwide, against such atrocities--since the Saudis are Bush''s homies.

Has any of our elected officials spoken out about this inhumane and illegal punishment. When the victim is punished by the Legal system as in this case the victim is raped again by the legal system and then forced to undergo a punishment that is demeaning for being a victim. America makes strange bedfellows and has done so for decades from Hitler, Tito, Stalin onward we have turned a blind eye until we could no longer look at ourselves in the mirror.

Sooner or later either through technology or the discovery of other oil fields the middle east will not have any viable means of support as all of their primary resources are in oil. At that point in time the Saudias and other Arab nations will be impotent.

Well this punishment will certainly teach her to think twice before becoming a victim in the future.

sorry but St. Paul has too many dychotomies for me to rely on. I''''ll stick with the Gospel of John, that through Christ we know the father, and as we are in him, he is in us.

Good night.

Nicodemus didn''t understand the words of Jesus either concerning being born again....but this is the real beginning of the spiritual journey, being born again, without which no one can even see the Kingdom of God. "That which is born of the flesh (natural) is flesh, that which is born of the Spirit is spirit"....notice the capitalization of the word Spirit. The Holy Spirit does the work of regeneration, not some "enlightenment" in you mind. You are obviously mixing "new age" ideas into Christianity and that is why you cannot understand what the apostle Paul is saying.......you cannot see the Kingdom of God.

Why does god, if he exists, do such horrible things?

Jesus said, "If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father"......Jesus came to reveal the Father and Jesus is revealed to the heart in the bible. It is Jesus you must see and believe. Still, there will be questions we don''t understand, but when He is inside you, you will be at peace even though everything around you may be turned upside down.

I think this is a VERY valid argument against the belief in an all-powerful and all-good God.

Coming from our human perception, I agree. But through God all things are possible. That just suggest that the possibilities are infinite, not finite like our comprehension.

I defer to sleep.

It just seems to conflict with the basic definition of god and be a fault in the logic. It is the old argument from Epicurus:

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

I think this is a VERY valid argument against the belief in an all-powerful and all-good God.

That truely we are made in His image.
Posted by finewoven at 09:49 PM : Nov 16, 2007
-------------------------------------------------

Therein lies the problem. "And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man" (1Cor.15:49). After the fall of man into sin (choosing his own way), the image has changed. "Death has spread to all men through sin", so when you are born into this world, you are born spiritually dead as far as God is concerned, therefore everybody and everything dies. Not what God intended, but what He knew would happen. Therefore the words of Jesus to Nicodemus, "unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God".....the image must be regenerated!

Therefore, I must say, according to the scriptures, your conclusion that it doesn''t have to be supernatural is entirely wrong.

CLINTON ALLOWS BUSH TO PARDON HIMSELF
Buried deep inside Military Commisions Act, which was FULLY SUPPORTED by Senators Clinton, Obama and McCain, is a provision which pre-pardons President Bush and all the members of his administration for any crimes which they may have committed all the way back to September 11, 2001. Why that far back? That kind of makes you wonder. Huh? I can''t help but recall what Nixon said during an interview following the Watergate scandal when he said, "If the President does it, by definition, it''s not illegal." History never repeats itself, folks. It only rhymes. At least Nixon had enough class to wait for another President to pardon him for his crimes against our country. Bush apparently doesn''t want to take that chance. He has to consider the risk that Ron Paul will become our next President.

fibonacci_, I can only suggest reading Job. That these points cannot really ever be answered from our own perspective. So far as I can tell, we are not all-knowing. To answer with something like, "God doesn''t want these things for us, but through free will humans choose them," would only come across as glib and detached.
