J Whitman- True, but at least the Palestinians would be "trading up" for fertile ground. In addition, much of Iran and Al Queada''s rhetoric is predicated upon US support for Israel''s mistreatment of the Palestinians (real or perceived). If for once the US would offer a solution that would please everyone, perhaps enhanched tranquility would prevail. In regards to the "lost tribes" emanating from the Euphrates, if they believe that sterile Israel (with no oil) is THEIR ''promised land''...let ''em have it.

j whitman yes the links are reuter news as is the following link. It does''nt take rocket science to figure out who''s behind attacks against the US and Israel No bs

The defense establishment has for years seen the border areas between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil as a focus of Iranian and Hezbollah terror. Iran, meanwhile, has opened embassies in Nicaragua, Ecuador and Chile, and increased commercial ties and visits by senior officials. Iran has also enlarged its missions in Venezuela, Uruguay, Mexico and Colombia.

The Foreign Ministry says these embassies have an "astronomical number" of diplomats, in no proportion to their needs. In Nicaragua, for example, there are 30 Iranian diplomats, with a similar number in Venezuela and other countries. Israel fears that these are intelligence operatives also involved in terror.

Iran fully understands if they or even the United States launched a nuclear weapon as 1st strike --- Every major power would retaiiate with nuclear weapons..... Mainly from Russia & China.... That''s what thier current joint exercises are for to counter Bush''s agressiveness.

J Whitman- I don''t trust anything that Rice "offered" them (what strings attached?). besides, this ''Adminstration'' with its track record of ''successes'' has no credability left in the world.
I sometimes wonder if it would be viable to relocate the Palestinians to the fertile Euphrates valley that Iraqi''s (understandably fled). This may jump start stability in Iraq and the region.

FeelFree1,,,
A nuclear meltdown does not cause a nuclear explosion because the core geometry and composition of a nuclear reactor does not permit a significant fraction of nuclear fuel to be burned without thermal effects stopping the reaction. However, there have been nuclear meltdowns in which steam explosions have occurred due to the fuel being rapidly overheated from an uncontrolled power excursion accident.

FeelFree1,,, The only way you can get nuclear fallout from a nuclear power plant is using a nuclear bomb,,, Our plants aren''t designed like Chernobyl, & that was a melt down.

Third, if you attack nuclear facilities, you automatically endanger the civilian population with the radiation fallout. I can''''t help it if you are too dim to realize this.

Posted by FeelFree1 at 04:24 PM : Aug 18, 2007,,,

You are assuming I advocate attacking Iran''s nuclear facilities with nuclear weapons and I don''t, conventional weapons can get the job done, I think, but maybe not, I''m not an expert. I believe Iran wants to develop nuclear weapons and this is not just based on suspicion, it''s based on logic. First, there was a solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis that everyone was happy with except Iran! Russia agreed to enrich Iran''s uranium and remove spent nuclear fuel denying Iran the opportunity to create nuclear weapons from spent nuclear fuel. If all Iran wanted nuclear technology for was electricity then problem solved, everyone is happy and the crisis is over. But no, Iran rejected that offer and the crisis continues! Iran should seek and explore the many nuclear options that will not allow it to create nuclear weapons, they are available but Iran does not want those safer options, Iran wants the option to build nuclear weapons!
