"*** for tat. Russia won't give up the retired KGB agent Litvinenko. England wouln't give up embezzler Lugovoi. To think that these two nations would make such a stink over two ruskies that noone gives a flying f#ck about is crazy. They are going to end counterterrorism intelligence because Russia killed off one of it's own retired KGB agent. These two governments need to get their priorities straight. Listen to me....priorities straight I live in the US, nevermind." Posted by superchez1 at 01:00 PM : Jul 19, 2007

"teat for tat." Right on. I agree with your post, regardless of what songbird starfinch says.

Anti-terrorism cooperation is far more important than revenge for a dead spies (Russian, British, U.S; no difference), especially when our young, and some not so young, soldiers are dying fighting terrorists, insurgents, Sunnis and Shias in that hell-hole in the middle east.

The Brittish have a chip on their shoulder that needs to be "wiped away."

If "I was you," songbird, I would get out my grammar book before criticizing someone else's keyboard.

"If I was you..." That sounds like something Bush would say. LOL!!!

Are you a troll?

He said Russia would halt counterterrorism cooperation with Britain.

"To our regret, cooperation between Russia and Britain on issues of fighting terrorism becomes impossible," he said.

Well, that pretty much says it all and has far more ramifications than most people realize. Counter terrorism cooperation is "down the drain" because of a dead spy. Spies have a life expectancy of about 10 seconds; five if they are out in public.

If Bush can send 3000 innocent soldiers to their death in Iraq, the life of one spy is nothing in comparison to anti-terrorism cooperation between the "big 3."

Besides, the spy was already dead, so it's really about punishing the other spy who killed him. No difference as far as I'm concerned. Losing cooperation from Russia is a big deal because, of the big 3 three leaders, Putin is the most evil.

Let Russia's friends have the honor of helping to develop Russia's resources and let the funders of terrorists sit among HM's other lap dogs...'Lord' Conrad Black, the yapping Tony Blair and Jakob Rothschild....

ourtomorrows--Before you completely buy into the self-promotion of our cousins regarding their democratic heritage...take a look at the Continent--specificly, France and Germany and Switzerland.

The regime that governs the UK is the same one that hung the poor by the tens of thousands, sentenced them to transport, murdered the Irish by the hundreds of thousand, enclosed the commons and stole them and retricted the franchise for ages. They launched unjust wars to steal resources against he Boers and others and were largely reponsible for the outbreak of the World Wars.

If this murder and risk to public safety had taken place in New York I don't think you would have posted those comments.

I wonder what Mr Bush would have done if given the same circumstances?

What did the Russians expect? They cant just assassinate people at there choosing in London using a deadly radioactive substance. I can only conclude they thought the British would never be able to find the cause of death but they were wrong. Spying and playing politics with visas is all part of of power games on both sides but the Russian overstepped the mark. What would the US reaction be if this was done in New York?

I'm British, an inhabitant of that disgusting little island so plainly at the hub of all the criminality in the world.
How can we get it so wrong? Everyone who dislikes, despises or hates us is always so right - they're never wrong. It must be great to be right all the time!
I thought - Britain expels 4 Russian diplomats, Russia expels 4 British diplomats - honours even in this particular spat of diplomatic realpolitik.
But no - Britain's still the fount of all evil, whilst Russia remains the fount of all decency.
Hey ho, I'm off to make a cup of tea!

The posts in response to this story are fascinating, particularly from those of you who are more to the left in your political thinking. Britain is our staunchest ally and has for centuries represented one of the most democratically progressive states in Europe. For people to be criticizing the British here and siding with Russia is unbelievable. Bush and Brown are evil and Putin is a saint, my word folk, what world are you living in!

And isn't it refreshing to hear once again from the most revoltingly incompetent and hypocritically arrogant Ms. Rice as she so boldy/assininely draws attention to the level of respect America has for its European democratic allies when it comes to extraditing citizens for crimes.

Britain has been long granting assylum to all the terrorists and shadowy characters in the world, and claiming themseleves to be a safe refuge to all the persecuted. Well, all that hypocrisy is coming home to roost with all the recent bomb blasts in Britian itself. If they want to take the high roads, Russia can similarly retaliate.

Let's see if President Putin can help BP and Shell write down their energy reserves...relieve them and their Rothschild associates of more of their ill-gotten gains. Diplomats are a dime a dozen, hit 'em where it hurts Vladimir!! Take 'em to the mat!! Hit a vital spot...their hearts are in their wallets, the Devil already has their souls! Russian businessman Boris Berezovsky, a vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, in London in this April 3, 2007, file photo, was the target of a plot to assassinate him, according to police.

-Borrrris is about to be compared to Tamoon on top of Pumba in The Lion King... yelling and accusing everyone of killin' him. Little Rascal and Big Multi-Billion thief! Where is the money this thief owed the Russian government in Revenue taxes?

"Russia is clearly ruled by a bunch of thugs." - So as every country in the world. Great Britain is sheltering terrorists and thieves, so why Russia should give out British opponents? It's pure politics, not common sense

after the sand throwing is over -

maybe the UK can accept the fact that they've given refuge to one of the biggest theives of modern history!

Maybe the UK can stop meddling in the affairs of others (like iraq) and start acting like it is:

a second rate has-been colonial state hanging on to the coattails of America.
