"I think it is time for America to stop being the world police and worry about what is in our own backyard. "

...like, for example, the rubble from the fallen World Trade Center Towers in New York City?

What surprises me is that they haven't stoned the adulter's wife for allowing him to do so. Misogyny doesn't make the heart grow fonder...

Barbaric, yes, but how else does one compel a guy to keep his trousers up? Unless taxing the guy to death would be a suitable substitute... since so many people complain of high taxes while otherwise divorcing their wives every few years for another...

The practice of stoning is barbaric.

It is bad enough when it is carried out by outlaw peasants who may not know better, but it is a serious offense when carried out by the government of Iran.

trbl24u - did you ever read the Koran? All it talks about is death, destruction and chaos. Death is the answer to numerous "crimes" that most consider non-capital (is killing an adulterer the appropriate punishment for that "crime"?) Don't project your Western beliefs and think Muslims are like you - they aren't. Read the Koran and study the history of Mohammed. No other "religious" leader, such as Buddha, Jesus or Moses, went around with an army killing those who refused to convert, like Mohammed did. Islam is a deadly cult - - nothing like areligion you are familiar with.

This is truly barbaric and sick. These people are using their religion to satisfy their primitive sadistic desires.
And I would like to note that I am an agnostic. I worked for several years at a company where most of the people were fundamentalist baptists. I was told I would get my fanny burned. (ie., go to hell). When I was in an office with a door to the outside, a dead bird was left outside my door. There were acts of petty harassment against me. A fellow agnostic and I both truly believe that if these people could have gotten away with it, they would have burned us both at the stake. And most of them were retired military engineers, not high school dropouts. Of course, they were Reagan-worshipping Republicans.

NONE OF US IS FREE UNLESS ALL ARE FREE!!!

WHY IS IT NOT ONE MUSLIM COUNTRY GRANTS EQUAL RIGHTS TO NON MUSLIMS???

FASCIST NAZI ISLAM SAYS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATES ISLAM LAW...

Universal Declaration of Human Rights
http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html

For example, in 1981, the Iranian representative to the United Nations, Said Rajaie-Khorassani, articulated the position of his country regarding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by saying that the UDHR was "a secular understanding of the Judeo-Christian tradition", which could not be implemented by Muslims without trespassing the Islamic law.

But the accepted assumption in India is that most of India's Muslims were converted to Islam through the sword. Meaning the Indians were given an option between death or adopting Islam. The third option was getting examined in Islam religion along with heavy taxes- Jeziya (poll tax) and Kharaj (property tax).

Under Islam, adultry on earth is punishable by getting stoned to death. But, if you kill non-Muslims, you go to heaven and have adultry with 72 virgins. That makes sense! Only under Islam could a sin on earth be encouraged in heaven!!
