It seems people get remembered a lot more for their failures than their triumphs. Blair's biggest triumph was sorting out the whole Northern Ireland problem. 15 years ago (long before the "global war on terror"), IRA terrorism was a real problem in Britain.

Now the IRA no longer exist as a terrorist organization and the once deeply sectarian Northern Ireland is free of terrorism and sectarian killing.

Lets just hope if he becomes this middle east envoy then he can repeat the success of Northern Ireland in the middle east.

There are several types/kinds of liars including, Pathological, habitual, occasional, defensive, and offensive.
Then there is what I term %u201Cprofessional liar%u201D, which can be a combination of the above.

The professional liar composes comments, speeches, comments etc, using lies and deception to confuse the reader/audience, to distract from the truth or from one issue to another.

Of course there are some, such as the authors of comments blaming the results of Bush%u2019s Iraq fiasco on Democrats that are so obviously false; the author could hardly be classified as a professional. What category do they belong to? Damfino.

OK He's gone! now lets start work on Brown. He has been the number two for ten years, complicit in everything Blair did, including sucking up to Bush.......He's Your Problem! We will let you lot deal with him. It is time both our respective countries had strong National Political Parties, run by people for the people and not for the chosen few or the corporate c r a p, whose only interest is to divide and profit.

All the best, Tony, you have earned a break from running the United Kingdom, and may you have many years of happiness and contentment ahead of you.

I liked Tony Blair when he 1st came to power, but my option quickly changed when he bought into Bush's Iraq war hook, line, and sinker! If not for that, I belive he could have stayed as Prime Minister for another term.

It will be interesting to see if Gordon Brown becomes another Bush 'lap dog', or if he will begin to distance himself from US policy in Iraq and elsewhere. (if Bush does start to call him "Brownie", it could be the kiss of death!).

I for one am glad he's gone. Under his rule our civil liberties have been eroded to a new low, and our taxation has gone through the roof. That said, I don't see the latter one changing under Brown, and the former one won't change at all so long as Labour is still in government.
