chiefsatw,

"It pumped Citgo gas and we rallied everyone in the surrouding buildings not to spend a dime there."

Good for you, good for the US; now if we could get our government to do the same thing. I know some people will say that it won't hurt Chavez much, he will just sell it to someone else; fine, but we won't be sending him OUR money.

The Chavez dictatorship is what happens when you allow a liberal, socialist, communist, or fascist to have too much power.

As soon as the Venezuelan people realize en masse that Chavez is the one ruining their country and destroying their lives, they will have his head on a pike - and then democracy will again have a chance in their country.

I have a personal boycott of anything that has to do will oil from Venezuela. I will gladly pay $2 more for a gallon of gas if the US would quit buying oil from them.

Re: "Exxon Mobil Corp. and ConocoPhillips refused to sign deals Tuesday that would enable them to keep pumping oil under tougher terms in Venezuela."

If these 2 Corporate terrorist organizations won't cooperate with the elected government and the will of the people of Venezuela, they should be shown the door/border.

There is an incredible and inspirational film available online about the failed U.S. backed 2002-coup attempt against Chavez, and about how the people of Venezuela refused to allow them to succeed.

The film, 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised', is available on 'google video'.

Here is a shortened URL for this exiting film:

If we had a President that was half the leader of Hugo Chavez, at least we would have half of a leader.

If Venezuela is anything like the other countries who have gone socialist/communist and nationalized their production facilities - production will fall, costs will rise and corruption will consume any money that might have come out of a industry. Ask Iran (who must import their gasoline and whose output keeps falling year over year) or Russia (who's oil industry under the communists was almost incapable of pumping oil and when it was privatized efficency went up, exports went up and profits, wages and benefits went up.)

Wonder what Chavez will do when the oil money begins to dry up?
