Minister Warns Controversial Author's Honor May Provoke Suicide Attacks And Fuel Extremist Fire
- long ago many foolish eastern nations renounced the disciplinary Angel Satan as they did not want to allow fair choice and correct behavior in religious belief...if you study the lines of this complaining Pakistani religion and belief you will, probably find something snide and foul and hidden problems...same with all these eastern nations leaning on the so-called religion they have renamed 'muslim' out of something else and are using as an excuse to butcher as they show themselves to be 'the butchers of the east' that is all they are worth...they are not worth calling religious...but usuryers of supposed religion to wear a weapon in hand and pretend life is not sanctified but a pretense or a movie...a big ego and childish nazi temperament is what these nations have...needless to say their choice of so-called sticking their nose into other people's business in a free world...most wars are provoked by bigoted religion...pakistan iran and several others must now take their place in the public eye as shriveled old undisciplined tricky bigots trying to rule the world with belief enslavement ...

- And the Muslim world again demonstrates that it is advanced, civilized and worthy of respect.
""We have to look at the root causes of militancy," Ijaz ul Haq, Pakistan's Minister for Religious Affairs told CBS News. "The root cause is that you are giving knighthood to someone who commits blasphemy. This leads to extremism and there is a danger of people considering suicide attacks in retaliation. He must be de-knighted immediately."
Oh, yeah ... the root cause of some loony blowing himself up is someone 10,000 miles away whom he has never met getting a knighthood. I'd have to say if you are so unstable that something like that sets you off, you are the root cause of the problem. Maybe you should be "de-lifed" immediately. What a classic case of the "We're evil and insane but you're making us that way" argument. Go *** yourself, Mr. Minister.
God forbid someone draw a cartoon of Rushdie getting knighted; the $hit will really hit the fan then! - Reply to this comment

- There's always another pretext. If we're talking about using words like 'crusade' - well, that's no biggie, it is a bad word to use because it's meaning implies a religious war. But if you want to say we should avoid literature, freedom of speech, to avoid irritating the extremists - hey, there's no way not to irritate the extremists.
Let's focus on the real world here - Israel is a real reason. Iran is a real reason. Support for corrupt governments is a real reason. Those are not pretexts, and there we should make sure our motives are pure and transparent.
This is just more censorship, and the muslim world flat out has to understand they cannot censor the world! They can hide from it if they like, but they cannot censor it, have us live by their values to avoid hurt feelings. We don't much like a lot they have to say either - but you don't see huge protests nor violence nor terrorist attacks about holocaust cartoons, and the million other areas where westerners find middle eastern values to be incomprehensible or wrong.

- Have any of these people actually read The Satanic Verses, or any of Sir Rushdie's other novels? If so, please let me know where he blasphemes Islam. I have read all of his books, and have found nothing but a deep understanding of the religion.
Sir Rushdie's latest novel, Shalimar The Clown, paints a very sympathetic picture of an Islamic villager who takes revenge against Western powers. It is the type of story that one would think people like Ijaz ul Haq would embrace.
If you can cite actual text from any of Sir Rushdie's novel that justifies Pakistan's reaction, please let me know. - Reply to this comment
"We have to look at the root causes of miltancy," said John Doe, Head Poohbah of the Patriotic Order of Armadillos. "Muslims are referring to America as the "Great Satan" and we Armadillos love the land of America and believe that Muslims are committing blasphemy. This leads to extremism and there is a danger of people considering mowing down Muslims with semi automatic weapon attacks in retaliation. Muslims must stop equating the country we love with the Prince of Evil, immediately if not sooner. You have been warned."- Reply to this comment
- Really, its a very dangerous move by the Queen. Being an indian I better understand that this can lead to unimaginable destruction. You can understand what I mean; when the West is already under fire in Afghanistan and Iraq.
