Comments on: Bush: Putin Has "Derailed" Democracy
Criticism Likely To Fuel Animosity Over Missile Defense Plan Ahead Of Bush-Putin Meeting
- When it comes to defending "democracy" Bush should shut up and sit down quietly as no thinking person wants what he offers. Bush's definition of the term "democracy" means that the [alleged] leader of the country has the right to do all of the following: (a) to illegally detain, arrest, prosecute and incarcerate people without due process; (b) to spy on, torture and murder people; (c) to deceive his country[wo]men and world in order to accomplish his objectives of preemptive war; (d) to negate or modify the lawful legislative acts by merely writing out some stupid little words on a piece of paper; (e)to ignore the will of countrymen to stop an illegal war; (f) to use political membership as the standard when deciding whether to prosecute or ignore law breakers. He's got some nerve to lecture anyone. No credibility however.

- Bush is not merely a hypocrite, his thinking is passive-aggressive and projects into everyone else things he denies about himself.
If a new Cold War is started, it will be Bush's fault and no one else's.
Meanwhile our own media tries desperately to shut out the presidential candidates who have the stones to call things as they are on national television.
The only thing keeping people from marching in the streets is that the Fed's lowball interest rates keeps everyone rolling in debt and too distracted to make trouble. Of course, once that party ends it'll probably be used as an excuse to declare martial law or something equally outrageous. - Reply to this comment
- Frankly Putin is right. Who wants a democracy that Bush has in mind? Bush is wacked a nut case, and defunct criminal at large. Right on Putin, for once a commie doing some American Justice.

- "In Russia, reforms that once promised to empower citizens have been derailed, with troubling implications for democratic development," Mr. Bush said, speaking at a democracy conference in Prague organized by former dissidents
Yeah right!!!!
It's seems like Bush's effort to bring Democracy is working really great in Iraq.
Bush is giving US TAX DOLLARS in the name of REBUILDING IRAQ and our WEAPONS in the name of ARMING IRAQI SECURITY FORCES to a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED ANTI-AMERICAN ISLAMIC RADICAL "MALIKI" for the killing of US troops deployed in Iraq and still doesn't feel shame in talking about Democracy in Russia.
"A SECULAR DICTATOR is much better then a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED RELIGIOUS RADICAL"
Putin might be a SECULAR DICTATOR but definately much better then DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED PSYCHOTIC CHRISTIAN RADICAL "BUSH". - Reply to this comment

- Dear Mr. President,
As a citizen of the United States, I'd like to make a just request for action on your part.
My request, which will benefit the many people's of the world, is a simple one:
Please stop talking, about anything, to anyone.
I make this request out of desperation since as an American Citizen you are currently not speaking for me. I resent further militarization with the notable exception of the defense of our borders. Beyond the scope of the defense of our country as defined by it's borders, you will receive no further mandate from me.
And finally, please cease any and all communications with other countries wherein assertions, whether true or false, about the justness of their respective governments, are the subject matter.
You may resume discussions of this type once you have adhered to the same principles here at home.
Respectfully,
The American Public

- Bushit doesn't just put his foot in his mouth, he then sticks his whole head up his a$$! Let's see, the Russians have more to fear than does the USA from Islamic fascism because:
1) they have large Muslim minorities in Russia,
2) they have a long border in common with "Muslim lands" (i.e., lands with Muslim dictatorships),
3) they have a history of wars with Muslims.
Bushit's answer--alienate the Russians!
Since Condie can speak Russian, here's a choice phrase for her: Hooey tebye, Condie! - Reply to this comment

- missile shield, and Putin warned on Monday that Russia could take "retaliatory steps" if Washington insists on building it."
Oh, and where are we going to get the money to build that?
Funny how the "social security is running out of money" scare platform has gone so out of vogue, now that money is pouring out of the woodword to fund all Bush's pork projects, like war, and Iraqi embassy, and the missile shield, and his VP's ex-company's bottom line.
We get to live through the nightmare. But it is our grand and great-grandkids who will carry the debts of the Bush Administration far into the future, if there is a planet for them to live on.
My, how invested in the future of humanity these oilmen are. - Reply to this comment
- huskerarmy - but Bush dislikes Russia; it's not adding up that we are supporting a country that doesn't like us. I don't understand the discontinuity.

- Bush "felt terrible" for Libby and his family, spokeswoman Dana Perino said. She would not comment on whether Bush might someday pardon Libby.
But did he say he "felt terrible for Joe Wilson and his wife"? Of course not. - Reply to this comment
- The missile defense shield is a fantasy and won't work. It's just another way for the President to funnel money to his Republican corporate sponsors. I don't blame Putin for his reaction. Bush's plans are an escalation of the arms race, and Putin has to respond. Bush is an idiotic hypocrite running around preaching to everybody about freedom and democracy. All Americans should be embarrassed and ashamed that he travels to other countries to represent the U.S.

The answer would have to be unequivocally yes to both propositions. - Reply to this comment

The forefathers were not "love it or leave it" rednecks as you suggest. They in fact believed in and espoused a free and vigerous exchange of belief and opinions in what was often referred to as the "marketplace of ideas." It's unfortunate however that so many very "average" people have been bamboozled into thinking otherwise. - Reply to this comment

- There are lots of things that the US and EU *could* do to be conciliatory toward Putin. But *would* they be beneficial?
Shut up about Russian action in Chechnya?
Quit belaboring the Serbs over Kosovo?
Hand over Berezovsky and Chechen asylum-seekers?
Drop the extradition demand for Lukovoi?
Halve the number of missiles to be deployed?
Let the Russians charge former Soviet allies whatever they want for Russian natural gas and oil?
Which of these concessions do you favor? Will the Russians offer concessions in return to the EU or US? Or will Putin just add a few more demands? This is the discussion that should be taking place. - Reply to this comment
- You know I visited Russia it is a beautiful country and you want to know something the people there are just like here. They want the same things we do.
A life that is safe from being killed. Some form of government to keep order the same things we want here.
Now here is the real kicker they like Americans. The neo con party would have you believe that we are still in a cold war. The real reason why we are putting bombs in other countries is because the neo con party makes them.
Notice I did not say Republican party it is no more anyone with any sense got out before the ship completely sinks. - Reply to this comment
