- "We were blindfolded, our hands were bound and we were forced up against a wall. Throughout our ordeal we faced constant psychological pressure," Carman said.
But the Brits can take it. They've always been tough.
There's an old poem I remember from my childhood:
"There once was a man who was bitten
By forty-six cats and a kitten.
He said, 'It is clear,
My end is quite near,
But no matter ! I'll die like a Briton !' " - Reply to this comment

tuckerndfw,,, Correct "It won't be Jewish" - It was wrong to give them a state to begin with... And it's a real good argument.

- The Jews have more right to Israel than the white man has to North America. It's too bad how the slimy Jew-haters have now attached themselves to the left, like leeches, to legitimize their lies. The left needs to purge these crypto-nazis into the slop bin of history.

Thanks.
I try to avoid these types of discussions because they are generally off topic as relates to the story.
Actually, it appears that international law (Hague Conventions) prohibited the establishment of Israel in the first place. Not only was it wrong, it appears it was illegal.
The eventual fate of Israel seems fairly obvious to me. I really don't understand why anyone who is not a religious zealot continues to support an effort that is doomed to failure. - Reply to this comment

- Frankly, The British captive soldiers did the same thing our soldiers have done when in captivity - made false confessions. How soon we forget our own incidents regardless of the diffences in our respective "military codes". We believe our own lies when it comes to bravery.
I also noticed in at least 2 photos that the female sailor, had crossed her arms as well as put her hand over her abdomen. I saw that as a signal that she had been touched offensively or possibly threatened with rape. - Reply to this comment

- It is a complicated issue and not one that is easily solved.

Harry Truman is the one man, other than Adolf Hitler, most responsible for inventing Israel in the first place. I can only guess that an institute that is named for the inventor of Israel will be somewhat biased in their reporting.
The only real solution is one state that represents all the people. Without the restriction that Jews must always be in control of the government. Or, the majority.
It does not matter what any of us think or propose because in the long term, the region will be one state. And, it won't be "Jewish."
The only question is how many people will needlessly die or suffer in the process. - Reply to this comment
- The twin towers being attacked by Al Queda is a reality, that is why we went into Afghanistan.

THE TWIN TOWERS!!! REMEMBER 9/11/01!!! WE HATE MUSLIMS!!!
That's how I see your remarks and why I generally ignore you and people like you.
The US & UK invaded Afghanistan because oil companies (ExxonMobil, British Petroleum) needed to build a pipeline in W. Afghanistan.
It's just that simple. That pipeline was in the planning long before 9/11/01 and the Taliban refused to negotiate with the oil companies.
VOILA!!!
OBL, originally sent by the US to Afghanistan to establish resistance to the Soviet occupation (can you say CIA operative?), suddenly appears and provides the US with an excuse to send in the military to protect the now under construction pipeline.
Zionist propaganda is nothing more than hysterical propaganda and should be ignored.
Search on "Afghanistan oil pipeline" and read all about it for yourself, without the Zionist propaganda. You'll have over one million references from which to choose. - Reply to this comment
- tuckerndfw read the Harry S Trumans Institute and the Near East Consulting reports on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.Read up on the economy of the Palestinians, the CIA, UN, Wikipedia etc.. It is a complicated issue and not one that is easily solved.

- By the same token then the US should not be financially helping the Palestinians.

The region will not support two independent, economically viable states. If US taxpayers are going to support a "two state solution" they better get used to having Palestinians as perpetual welfare clients.
Israelis stole most of the water and productive land, so there isn't much with which Palestinians can support their state. And, Israel places tight restrictions on their travel lanes, including demolishing their airport, so it is hard to imagine how Palestinians will ever establish a viable economy to support their state.
But, let's not kid each other. Anyone who has studied the issue knows that Israel has no intention of allowing the Palestinians to have their own state. Israel is in the process of "ethnic cleansing." If they could get away with it, Israel would kill every Palestinian man, woman and child. Other than the servants they need to do their manual labor on Saturday, that is. - Reply to this comment
- Hysterical Zionist propaganda is the primary reason the US unnecessarily invaded Afghanistan and Iraq.
And what propaganda did the give? The twin towers being attacked by Al Queda is a reality, that is why we went into Afghanistan. - Reply to this comment

Hysterical Zionist propaganda is the primary reason the US unnecessarily invaded Afghanistan and Iraq.
Same as Zionists are currently promoting their hysterical "HE'S A MADMAN WITH A NUKE!!!" propaganda in reference to Ahmadinejab.
Which I ignore. Only a moron believes those lies after all the lies Zionists told about Iraq. And, I am not going to waste my time debating with a moron. - Reply to this comment
- Perhaps they should alter their own behavior so as to avoid persecution. At any rate, US taxpayers have not obligation to provide them with a safe haven, or protect their safe haven.

By the same token then the US should not be financially helping the Palestinians. Unemployment 50%, 60% living below poverty, 80% requiring financial assistance. The US and Israel are the two largest contributors to the Palestinian economy. A majority of Palestinians and Israelis want peace and the Camp David Peace Accords to become a reality. The US contributed last year 240 million to the Israeli governmment as a loan. That is .015 of Israels GDP, the Palestinians are to receive 50 to 100 million in aid from the US that is not a loan. - Reply to this comment
- If Jews are persecuted they have to move to Israel. They don't try to take over Ethiopia or France.
Posted by zootallures2 at 05:28 PM : Apr 06, 2007
The majority of Jews do not live in Israel. US taxpayers have no obligation to provide a cult with a safe haven where they can retreat after alienating their neighbors.
Any cult that has been "persecuted" for thousands of years (by their own accounts) is probably doing something they shouldn't be doing.
Perhaps they should alter their own behavior so as to avoid persecution. At any rate, US taxpayers have not obligation to provide them with a safe haven, or protect their safe haven. - Reply to this comment
