President Bush Blasts Visit; Speaker Counters That He Didn't Criticize Republican Visitors
- Apparently you did miss something, sport. Nancy Pelosi is second in line for the most powerful job on the planet. And, I might add, the only one of the three with a brain.
--- She's third in line and the brain part remains to be seen.
If McCain can go to Iraq, the Speaker of the House can certainly go anywhere whe pleases.
--- She didn't go to Iraq, she went to Syria to negotiate peace between Syria and Isreal. Cleary a job of the State Department, not Congress. Even if it was her job, the President, whether you agree with him or not, directed her not to go. She is giving Syria the impression that she has the right to speak for the foreign policies of the White House. - Reply to this comment

No... but lying to Congress and the American people to take the country into an illegal war is most definitely an act of treason. Further, outing a covert CIA agent in the time of war is very much an act of treason, and using the Justice department to obstruct justice may very well be an act of treason. - Reply to this comment

..and yet we went after Iraq and destroyed our regional and international good will and credibility. Maybe...we better clean up the mess there and in Afghanistan first...since the Army is stretched sooo thin we are reduced to enlisting 42 year olds, and felons and making them overstay their rotations. Or is it for cons, any war with anyone, will do? - Reply to this comment
- It is interesting to read the bellicose comments of those sitting at home at their computers re attacking the middle east countries. As one who experienced war and find no solace in the destruction of life I am appalled at the stance of george bush and his cronies. These cowards did not meet the test when called upon to serve yet are willing to send young men and women to a part of the world to die in order for them to maintain the hold on the significant oil resources of that region. There are no winners in war and if anyone thinks so they are a fool. Look at Viet Nam, supposedly it would become a communist state and thus a stepping stone for that movement in the world. As any reasonable thinking human being can see that did not happen. I do not believe anything the political leaders say based on the experiences gained from time in the military and as a retired government employee.

Bush has been peeing down your back (and in your mouths and everywhere else) for the past 6 years--but people like you love it, because he claims the showers are "golden" and you silly cons know you love your "gold"--any way you can get it. - Reply to this comment
- Diplomacy is essential if the mess in Iraq is ever going to be resolved. The Iraq study group sent by bush sr to try and bailout his sorry son's butt recommended Dialogue with Syria and Iran and all the neighboring countries in order to find a solution to the ever worsening situation in Iraq. So what is the problem with her going to Syria except it wasn't bush's idea?

- Second, Bush did not say anything about the Reps. going over there becuase they are not in a position of power. Pelosi is.

No, just like he wants to paint the Gonzales scandal as a Democratic smear--bush rarely has anything to say of his fellow Republicans (who also call for Gonzales's ouster) because he is a Partisan hack as well as a liar, war criminal and all around sleazy, impotent chicken hawk. - Reply to this comment
- Whatever happened to not negoitating with terrorists?

- A lesson for future Presidents is the lesson given to Gadaffi, he now keeps his head well down after a visit from a few f1-11's. Iran is really asking for it, as did Libya. Give the Iranians, specifically the Republican Guard, a good hiding and the rest will melt into the desert. Everyone is quick to condem Bush but Iran has caused more grief than anyone during the last twenty years, it really is time they were made to pay.

- Did I miss the election that gave Pelosi the presidency? Did someone appoint her Queen? Jane Fonda did the same thing in North Vietnam, blame the U.S., support the ENEMY, disregard policy and the chain of command. Can anyone tell me if Nancy Pelosi has ANY diplomatic experience with foreign countries and governments? If a republican had defied a sitting Democratic president with a trip that could in fact be detrimental the United states and it's interests on top of the fact this take power official had no diplomatic experience the leftwing media would frogmarch this politician until a resignation was the end result. The Democrats are the greatest allies the bad guys could hope for. What have the Dems done since taking the majority? they undermined the war at every turn all in the name of politics, they have done NOTHING for the American people only criticize the present administration. They will be responsible for giving the enemy an exit date, that kind of thing used to be called treason. What a bunch of losers!

- msindahouse,
So what do you suggest, that we declare war on all the middle east countries we have dissagrements with? Should we just nuke them all and get it over with? Talking does not mean we'd agree to give in to thier wishes. Dialog is always better than isolation as a policy. - Reply to this comment
- Don't pee down my back and tell me it's raining. These mideast thugs only understand one language and that's violence. Talk is as cheap as life in countries like Syria, Iraq, Iran, etc. President Bush understands that and deals with it accordingly. Those who believe that peace will be achieved through conciliation need only re-visit 1939 Germany. Half of Europe was "given away" in hopes of peace and we all know how that turned out.

- Just days prior to Pelosi visiting Syria three Republicans visited. Where was Bush in pointing that out! Bush's continued stupidity in thinking he is the dictator of the world continues to lower US esteem worldwide which REALLY makes the world a more dangerous place. He and Cheney think if they don't talk to someone they will eventually change behavior - it doesn't work that way. By talking you find common ground and start to realize what they want to keep, but also what they are willing to give up. Bush and his supporters need to grow up!

- "A lot of people have gone to see President Assad....and yet we haven't seen action. He hasn't responded," Mr. Bush told reporters at a Rose Garden news conference.
By 'a lot of people' do you mean your little Klingon sidekick, Condi??
Bush's idea of diplomacy is calling world leaders bad names.
Bush is an idiot, and if you voted for him you are an idiot.
Sorry for your luck! - Reply to this comment
