- Iran has as much right to nukes as the US or any other nation. And, given the fact the US & Israel have both threatened to attack Iran, it would appear they desperately need them to fend off the credible threat posed by the US & Israel.

- It is sheer posturing designed to give the appearance of diplomatic intent and is offered knowing full well that the terms are so outrageous that it will be rejected out of hand.

I enjoyed your piece - it's right on the spot !
But you also said : Bush is bluffing with his cards face up on the table. No wonder Iran tells him, "so what?"
Are you so sure he's bluffing? And if all those heavy bombers we sent to Israel not so long ago together with so-called "bunker-busting", were part and parcel of the "plan" ?? - Reply to this comment
- George and *** are not common street thugs, they are business men. Street thugs know when to get out if it gets to hot. This group acts like it is a board room and they can do as they please because they are the bosses. That is the way the corporate world works. Businesses could never do a better job then the US government look at what happens when you put business men in charge they feel as though they can do anything they want and just past the cost on the to the consumer. I do not know about you but after the savings and loan and now Iraq I am tired of picking up the tab after the Republicans leave me with the bill. How long to pay this mess off we haven't even finished paying off the savings and loan yet.

- I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home.

I see you're still calling for censorship, eh lars?
You have a real problem with the citizens of this country knowing the truth about Iraq, don't you? - Reply to this comment
- Appeal for Redress
Sign this Appeal.
This site is an Appeal For Redress in support of our mission in Iraq.
An Appeal For Redress is an authorized means for active duty military to submit a grievance to Congress. It can be signed by Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard military personnel.
It is authorized by DoD Directive 1325.6 and DoD Directive 7050.6.
The wording of the Appeal for Redress is:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.
If you are active duty, reservist or national guard, please Sign this Appeal.
Most service members fully support the war in Iraq and feel calls to retreat by Congress and attacks by our media on our conduct and mission act to motivate our enemy while demoralizing our support at home, directly increasing the threat we face and resulting in greater American casualties. This Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to Congress to fully support us and actively oppose media attacks on our mission and our morale.
This Appeal will be delivered to members of Congress.

- The only reason Iran is acting cocky like that is because Russia and/or China must have promised them military support if the U.S. attacks! It's most likely Russia since they have already armed Iran with Tor-1's and SS21's despite pending sanctions and the Russian foreign minister is always asking why the U.S. keeps mentioning military action. The cold war looks like its back whether the U.S. likes it or not. The Russians have too much free time, maybe the U.S. should arm Chechnia to keep them busy!!

Agreed that Iran knows that they can count on Russia and China on the security council as those two countries are no more interested in faciliting US domination of the world than Iran is.
Iran also knows that Bush is a paper tiger in regards to any serious military options as the US is bogged down in Bush's failures in Afghanistan and Iraq with no end is sight on either front.
Iran also knows that after Bush thumbed his nose at the UN and many of our allies regarding Iraq, that he will be hard pressed to get any support fo an international force.

- "Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki reiterated Tuesday his country would never again suspend uranium enrichment %u2014 a move that the United States says is essential for Washington-Tehran negotiations."
The US, like Israel, regularly employs this disengeuous approach designed to give the appearance of a desire to negotiate with an enemy.
Just as Israel insists that the Palestinians disavow violence prior to negotiating with them, the US insists that Iran give up it's program prior to negotiations.
Well kids, if the goal is to negotiate a solution, how can anyone expect the other side to provide the solution as a precondition for talks?
Is the US willing to provide a promise of non-intervention to Iran as a condition for talks? Probably not, yet the US insists that Iran fold it's hand ahead of time or there's nothing to talk about.
If Iran folds it's hand there's nothing to talk about anyway, at least from Iran perspective, not to mention Iran gives up it's main bargaining chip in return for what? A conversation?
This approach is not a serious attempt at diplomacy. Anyone who says "give me what I want ahead of time and then we'll talk" is not expecting anything to come from the offer.
It is sheer posturing designed to give the appearance of diplomatic intent and is offered knowing full well that the terms are so outrageous that it will be rejected out of hand. - Reply to this comment
- President Bush is holding Hostage all the America Troops in the Iraq War Theater by indicating that if Congress Cuts funding for the His Iraq War Plan he will leave the troops over there anyway without supplies and equipment they need, instead of bringing them home. Is that anything other than kidnapping or hostage taking? Supporting the Troops does not mean Supporting the War in Iraq or the Bush Idea of the War in Iraq! There is a difference! It is bad enough that the Bush Administration sent the troops to Iraq on false pretences, ill equipped and ill prepared with no end game plan. The Rovian spin of a Congressional Vote against the Bush Iraq war scenario is a vote against the Troops just validates the Bush Administration resolve to Hold the Military Troops Hostage to his Iraq war plan regardless of the will of America and its elected representatives. Bush In one hand is touting the Red, White, and Blue war on Terror against everyone who attacked us on 911 and on the other hand he is funding Al Qaeda to destabilize other governments in the Middle East! Here is the stream read it yourself!

- GW Bush and Dicky Cheney are what happens to the world when common street thugs come to power!
Everyone should take a look at what Ahmadinejad really said about Israel;
"Juan Cole, a University of Michigan Professor of Modern Middle East and South Asian History, translates the Persian phrase as:
The Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem (een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods) must [vanish from] the page of time (bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad).[8]
According to Cole, "Ahmadinejad did not say he was going to wipe Israel off the map because no such idiom exists in Persian" and "He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse."[
The building of the BUSH case for war against Iran, starts again, with a lie. - Reply to this comment
- Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez are what happens to the world when common street thugs come to power! The world is left with no choice but to deal with them in a manner they are use to and in a language they understand. God help us all.
