Black Hawk Downing Points To Hostile Fire; "Dirty" Chlorine Bomb Strikes Again
- CBS News reports, "Military officials worry extremists may have recently gained more access to firepower such as shoulder-fired anti-aircraft rockets and heavy machine guns %u2014 and more expertise to use them. The Black Hawk would be at least the eighth U.S. helicopter to crash or be taken down by hostile fire in the past month."

Would you say we have a problem with "vertical envelopment" warfare concepts pioneered in the middle of the last century? The use of helicopters for troop movement, suppression and fire control retains a serious flaw endangering all US troops-- they are extremely vulnerable to the right AA weapon, and most insurgencies quickly can deploy a wide variety.
The Iraq insurgency already has had the weapons it needs for at least several months, and probably much longer. A recent video of the downing of a US Chinook showed multiple AA bursts at exactly the aircraft's height (estimate difficult, but perhaps 2000 feet, and a distance of two miles from camera). No bursts were seen wide or outside the Chinook's path, so these were proximity-bursts and/or radar guided.
To understand the critical threat to US tactics, we have the example of the Soviets in Afghanistan. Once the CIA made sure Afghan fighters were proficient with our Stinger AA missiles, the mujahideen could deprive Russian troops of air transport and cover, and the Soviet army no longer held tactical and firepower advantage. - Reply to this comment
- "Where is the outrage to the 50,000 deaths on our roads and the epidemic teen suicide"...LOL! See, you love killing so much, you kill more of yourselves and others in a year than the Muslim extemists have done since the beginning of time. And don't forget the 3,000 on 9/11 from the controlled demolition and false flag operation you did yourself to go and kill a million in Afghanastan and Iraq.

There is more threat, still, from ignorami who want to launch into the rhetoric of the other side, conceding the points they try to make before they make them-- for example, that the MidEast and West have no common interests or future.
Their claims are as false as yours. - Reply to this comment

- Re: "A second U.S. soldier has pleaded guilty to the gang rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and the killing of her family"
These soldiers reportedly planned this attack ahead of time. The men who participated in this heinous chain of events, apparently went to this 14 year old girl's house, shot her parents and her younger sister, then took turns raping her.
When these soldiers were done raping this 14-year-old girl, they shot her, and set her corpse on fire, in an effort to cover up their deeds.
These soldiers then stuck around the house to prepare themselves a chicken dinner.
The dead 14-year-old girl%u2019s two remaining younger brothers later returned home to discover this grizzly scene. Do you think that it matters whether these boys are Sunni or Shi%u2019ite?
This is the face of the brutal and illegal war against Iraq.
Obviously, the people of Iraq have every right to defend themselves.
Please keep in mind that the Bush regime is ultimately responsible for every rape, and every torture session that has taken place over the past 4 years, in Iraq.
Get the hell out of Iraq!

You cannot hear because you refuse to hear, and to make the point, even your bozo fascist Liar-in-Chief now refers to global warming as "addressing the challenge of global climate change". This does tend to pull the air from your PTBarnum tent-show, doesn't it?

Let's Hear It for the Fascists
First, define your terms properly, then try to make your argument-- it works better, that way. Fascism is defined as "a system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with a belligerent nationalism." (The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language)
Espousing right-wing neocon, fascist drivel, Bush brought the American political system to a historic low, fulfilling certain important parameters of a Fascist state-- (1) with one-party control of all three branches of government, Bush systematically isolated and excluded the loyal opposition in everything from congressional committees to gerrymandering electoral districts, obtaining rubber-stamped approval from federal courts (2) fostering an unparalleled, unprecedented relaxation-- no, defiance-- of the rule of law, periodically erupting in criminal prosecutions as scandal emerged - Reply to this comment

(3) granting immunity and green light to Bush leaning co-conspirators like Halliburton, KBR, Bechtel, Unisys and other corporate criminals to feed like hogs with no oversight at the public trough, and then defending their criminal misconduct, fraud and theft of public monies with rear-guard actions to avoid public exposure and prosecution (4) silencing scientists and public servants who warned America with information about everything from global warming to governmental corruption (5) making the United States of America an international pariah, a shameless spectacle among nations for having violated its own principles of law, justice and humanity (6) not content with loss of honor and loss of credibility, Bush made the United States of America into a global bully and unilateralist equal to Louis XIV ("I am the state!") , or more aptly, King George III, with lies about why he invaded Iraq and more lies from about why we must stay there.
Second, shouting about how everyone who disagrees with you is a traitor only advertises how (1) ignorant (2) desperate and (3) belligerent some red posters have become, lacking any basis for making their own point of view coherent or persuasive. Children whose social skills break down in the sandbox begin whining, screaming and throwing mud. - Reply to this comment

And pursuing that point, how interesting that Hitler's favorite pasttime with the good German people was his shouted and screamed radio rants-- even louder than Fox debutantes O'Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh, but with the same self-entranced certainty. Bush faithful simply love that OldTime GOP Gospel, a revivalesque deep cleansing by sweeping tides of hatred and paranoia, alternating with geysers of self-justification. It is a tribal thing, of course, often held in the aptly named "Rushroom".
Did someone mention "winning"? Since when was anyone but Bush talking about winning his monstrous $354 billion scam on the American people known as Iraq, with 3,000 additional American dead for nothing remotely connected to 911. Even our military commanders are finally discovering the testicular fortitude to tell the truth. Our line troops in Iraq are widely disaffected with the war, and no-- these troops do not "volunteer for Baghdad"-- their units are assigned, or rotated in.
Finally, even arch-conservative icons are taking pains to distance themselves from the amoral Wannabe in the Oval Office who called the American Constitution a "GD*&&##! piece of paper!" Yes, even those calling themselves "neocons" are frothing a bit as they explain how Bush perverted their splendid vision of a New American Century. - Reply to this comment
- Where is the outrage to the 50,000 deaths on our roads and the epidemic teen suicide? We are obviously more determined to use the political club. Someone give me a alternative option that makes more sense then stop the war. There is a threat from muslum extremists that do want to kill us.

Is this an indication that the "Iraqi Security Forces" are ready to take over?

- Sharn,,, Helicopters, are of great use terific gun platforms, rescue & support -- One of the problems may be in putting money into programs as "Ospry" wich every Marine considers a flying coffin.... We could use the money for more adequate designs for helicopters. Especially in wars with no planned end.

- I would like to know if these ridiculous helicopters were purchased from a Cheney-related company. Flying these sitting duck targets, these fat targets asking for missiles, seems like something only our broken defense industry could have forced on our military.
If anyone came to me and suggested the use of helicopters in battle, a fat, slow, fragile flying machine, I would have thought they were crazy. But apparently the defense industry has sold our military on these fat turkeys. Interested in whether these particular substandard helicopters were sold by Cheney or one of his dirty deals - another way he is killing Americans. - Reply to this comment
