Scouser -- I believe you read the chart incorrectly. The "free" and "unfree" has to do with the state of economic liberalization in the receiving country. That is, Israel is mostly a free (unregulated, capitalist, not protectionist) economy while India and Egypt are mostly "unfree" (government controlled, protectionist). Thank you for posting the chart though -- I was too lazy to look it up -- and you proved my point.
Rick -- your faith DOES have a lot to do with history. The Crusades. 1000 years of ignorance in the Dark Ages. The 100-Years War (which was Christian on Christian). The Inquisition. The destruction of the Polynesian, Aztec and Inca civilizations. The extermination of Native Americans with smallpox-infected blankets. We're all so proud to be a part of your faith's history.- Reply to this comment

- To those who say that Israel only survives due to foreign aid... you're really not correct. What the foreign aid buys is some small measure of peace. Specifically, who is #2 on the US foreign-aid list after Israel? Do some research and get yourself educated.
Of course what my educated friend here doesn't tell you is that foreign aid to Israel is mostly free whereas aid to other countries in the region is mostly unfree, check out top 10 recipients of U.S. development assistance and aid, 1960-2004,

- I NO LONGER SUPPORT THE OCCUPATION
The real %u2018occupation%u2019
1300 years of Arab occupation
Arabs, whose home is Arabia, have occupied and brutalized for centuries.
During that time, non muslims have...
been murdered en masse
had their land stolen
their holy places destroyed and desecrated
been sold into slavery
their women raped
their children butchered
and the arabs have the nerve to whine about "occupation" when non muslims fight back
I NO LONGER SUPPORT ISLAM OCCUPATION - Reply to this comment
- [Side note]
I will admit that I'm a bit concerned that my last post was championed by Rick. While I disagree with Tucker based on fact and history, I have much more vehemently disagred with Rick on the separation of faith and science. I disavow Rick's support -- which is based on faith, not history. - Reply to this comment
- Tucker,
I'll acknowledge that the revolt in Judea in 70 could be construed as Jewish terrorism. However, the Jewish expulsion later does not remove the legitimacy of their claims (and there were still Jews in Judea even after the Revolt).
And be careful before you say that the Palestinians therefore have a similar claim. By your own logic, the governing power (the Israelis) should eject the Palestinians for terrorism and the Palestinians would therefore give up all legitimacy. Hmmm... while we're at it, I suppose you also feel that Native Americans who "terrorized" trains crossing their lands also gave up legitimacy once they were forced onto reservations. Ouch -- it hurts when it's close to home, doesn't it.

- We support Israel....so what's your point? It's a good thing that we do support Israel, I'll put it that way.
Singinrick My point is that if it is true what you stated "God has his protection over the land of Israel and the holy city of Jerusalem" then why do American taxpayers have to fork out 5 billion a year to help Israel - Reply to this comment

'Greedy monsters' ruled church
SPECIAL TO THE WASHINGTON TIMES
BETHLEHEM, West Bank %u2014 The Palestinian gunmen holed up in the Church of the Nativity and later deported by Israel seized church stockpiles of food and "ate like greedy monsters" until the food ran out, while more than 150 civilians went hungry.
They also guzzled beer, wine and Johnnie Walker scotch that they found in priests' quarters, undeterred by the Islamic ban on drinking alcohol.
Angry Orthodox priests yesterday showed two reporters about 20 empty bottles of whiskey, champagne, vodka, cognac and French wine on a kitchen shelf and on the floor of two rooms.
"They should be ashamed of themselves. They acted like animals, like greedy monsters. Come, I will show you more," said one priest, who declined to give his name.
"Palestinians took candelabra, icons and anything that looked like gold," said a Franciscan, the Rev. Nicholas Marquez from Mexico.

Founded in 1953 by Isaiah L. "Si" Kenen, AIPAC's original name was the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs. According to UCLA political science professor and author, Steven Spiegel, "the tension between the Eisenhower administration and Israeli supporters was so acute that there were rumors (unfounded as it turned out) that the administration would investigate the American Zionist Council. Therefore, an independent lobbying committee was formed, which years later was renamed [AIPAC]." [SPIEGEL, p. 52].[citation needed] Today, AIPAC has over 100,000 members.[1]
AIPAC's stated purpose is to lobby the Congress of the United States on issues and legislation "to ensure that the U.S.-Israel relationship is strong so that both countries can work together" to meet the challenges of "stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, fighting terrorism and achieving peace".[2] It regularly meets with members of Congress and holds events where it can share its views. It also provides analysis of the voting records of U.S. federal representatives and senators with regard to how they voted on legislation related to Israel. The New York Times described AIPAC on July 6, 1987 as "a major force in shaping United States policy in the Middle East." - Reply to this comment
