Comments on: Internet Spreading Dangerous Ideology?
In Wake Of U.K. Terror Raids, Internet Fostering New Distrust Between Generations Of Muslims
- tuckerndfw,
Understood! I didn't take that implication from your post. I think you and I are in agreement on this point. In fact, the name of the song I wrote was "Imaginary Friend", by coincidence.
Humans are indeed social animals, and as such intrinsically decent. However, since we are also reasoning and self-aware animals, there exists an urge for self-advancement as well, which can lead to anti-social behavior. As you say, religion (directly in contrast to its actual, basic guiding principles, quite often) all too often provides an excuse for such anti-social behavior. - Reply to this comment
- yes it is coming from the imam and the mosque
UK TV AIRS SHOCK 'UNDERCOVER' LOOK INTO MAINSTREAM BRIT MOSQUES...
Dispatches: Undercover Mosque
This is part one of the much-anticipated UK Channel 4 documentary Dispatches: Undercover Mosque, exposing evidence of Islamic supremacism, shocking misogyny, and support for violence at a number of Britain%u2019s leading mosques and Muslim institutions. (Thanks again to LGF operative kasper.)

- Jimibear,
I did not mean to imply non-religious people were more altruistic, I was attempting to make the point "holy men" would slaughter people just like anyone else whose personal survival was at stake. Difference being he would claim "God made me do it." Or, "God approved it."
Humans are social animals by nature and invent Gods to justify their anti-social behaviors. We need no excuses to be decent, social animals. We are born that way.
And, it has nothing to do with an imaginary friend invented by some delusional lunatic. - Reply to this comment

I agree 100% with your post. In fact, I would go further: religion allows people the opportunity to pretend to be altruistic and merciful but, because it's based in a system of reward and punishment, it's actually just self-interest at work.
Remove religion from the equation and there may be some chance that people will act with genuine, un-selfish kindness.
I said in a song I wrote:
"Doing good's worth doing well
Without the fear of hell
Or the promise of some after-life reward".
And I think that's true. (Although I admit that in the situation you put forward, I'd be fighting for the bread and water like everyone else. The difference would be that I wouldn't try to blame God for my wanting to survive, or use some fairy tale's "will" as a reason why I should be fed and others should die.) - Reply to this comment
- I wasn't intending to peg you as one; I was saying IF you want to dominate others by violence, you are an a$$hole.
Do you want to dominate others by violence? I don't. And most people don't, I believe. - Reply to this comment
- 306, "survival of the fittest" is the law whether you like ir, recognize it, or acknowledge it.
Modern society provides the opportunity for people to pretend to be altruistic and merciful.
I assure you if several hundred people were trying to survive on a quart of water and a loaf of bread, "holy men" would invent some reason everyone else needed to be slaughtered.
In the name of God, of course.
The bible is a handbook of terrorism and violence.
Israel's existence is based on terrorism and violence and the ONLY justification for importing millions of Asians & Europeans onto the land that did not belong to them was and is the bible.
Israel is demonstrable proof Jews & Christians are just as violent and treacherous as their Muslim counterparts.
Religious zealots are all the same: fanatical, delusional and prone to violence when confronted with opposition. - Reply to this comment
- Certainly every time a pro war propaganda article from the Zionist "Weakly Substandard" or NRO advocating attacking Iran or espousing the 'virtues' of staying in Iraq is reprinted on this site indeed is spreading dangerous ideology.

You said there was no right or wrong, not anyone else. The basis for the law of man should be what is "good for the tribe", which are a lot of the things the Bible advocates, actually: don't kill, don't steal, don't lie, don't cheat, etc. Throwing God in just muddles the issue; people then don't think about right and wrong, but just call it "God's will" and it takes away personal respisibility and thought. And because it discourages thought, people can use religion as an excuse for all manner of evil. - Reply to this comment
- So ban the bible if you must - if you want to trust the religion of "the suvival of the fittest" the again you had better buy guns and ammo

- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....
He sounds like every extremist religious fanatic who ever lived.
Jew, Christian and Muslim extremist fanatics ALL claim it isn't their violently fanatic doctrine. The "passover" is a celebration of slaughtering inocent children in Egypt.
The bible is a terrorist handbook and justifies murdering people in the "name of God."
Anyone who claims otherwise is either ignorant of the bible or a liar. Perhaps both.
This imam is obviously a liar. Which is typical for Jewish, Christian and Muslim "holy men." Most of the revered (mythological) figures in the bible were murderers, liars and thieves. So, why should modern day "holy men" be different from their chosen heroes?
The bible should be banned in all forms if we are going to ban something that causes hate & violence. - Reply to this comment

- Here's a quote from Paul Harris, founder of Rotary International:
"The road to war is a well-paved highway. The road to peace is still a wilderness."
Very true, and very sad.
And three-oh-6, the answer to your question "Why would i wan't peace if i could use War to dominate you??" is "Hopefully because you aren't an a$$hole." If you want to use violence to dominate others, then you are indeed an a$$hole, and a bully to boot.
And this:
"If there is no God then there is no right or wrong!! There is nothing wrong with me killing whoever i consider to be my enemy?

is exactly wrong. Right and wrong exist independently of God. All religion does is promise a (fictional) system of rewards and punishments, based on the assumption that people can't decide right from wrong for themselves and act accordingly. People can; it's crutches like religion that provide them excuses not to. - Reply to this comment
- If there is no basis for right and wrong then anything can be lawful -- the killing of liberials maybe?
