The truth is, a country submerged in Islamic radicalism is isolated from the world community and economic development, and will never rise from the poverty and ignorance that engulfs it. Neither lives nor nations can be built on hate.

Al Zawahiri's worst nightmare is to be ignored; to no longer matter. Each time that Al Qaeda concentrates its control and administration, the surrounding government or the US applies military power and destroys them. Al Qaeda cannot win. They already do not matter. Eventually Muslims will grow tired of them, and then nobody will listen to them, either.

There is no reason to wear ourselves out on these lunatics. Let the Muslim governments do it for us. By all means, be supportive and patiently lend a hand destroying concentrations of Al Qaeda when they coalesce. Beyond that, practice reasonable security, and get on with our own business in the world. Adopt a positive, supportive foreign policy and get on with life. Time and their own hatred will take care of Al Qaeda.
