In so far as the Republicans and Democrats aren't shooting at each other, we're a lot more 'united' than some other countries around the globe. Civil discourse is not necessarily a sign of division. In fact, I believe it's our strength. Dissent is a necerray condition of a free society, right? You'll notice, at least that I don't refer to the President by some of the more mean-spirited monikers some of my leftie colleagues use (at least not in public or around my kids)....

you right, I apologize--I should not have called that person an airhead. It wasn't nice, I know.

If i had one wish it would be that Americans would learn to rally behind our president in a time of war especiallly. Did you ever hear the term, "Divide and Conquer". I am sick of the world seeing us as a divided nation---cause they use that to try to undermine us. It is terrible for our nation. I am begging the democrats to come together and rally as Americans behind our President. You may not agree with him---I don't even agree with President Bush on every issue--in fact there is quite a few things I do not agree with-----but I will always respect our President and give him support no matter who he (she?) is. It is time this nation starts healing its divide. let us show the world that we are in fact united as AMERICANS--no matter who is President

Hey, laurieleemoo. Is your hobby goading liberals? I don't think calling people airheads is very nice. To be fair, I'm sure you've been called a few nasty things on here yourself, and that's not very nice either. Just my two cents, but I think we're not going to get anywhere hashing through these issues when we keep insinuating that the other side, and whatever point they're trying to make, is stupid.

As far as the President and his staff's ability to predict the future is concerned, their track record doesn't look that hot to me. Greeted with roses, indeed. Insurgency is in the last throes? Any prediction they may have made regarding Saddam's future nuclear weapons capability (and anything else, for that matter) is suspect at best, in my opinion. Meanwhile, there's this loon in Asia tinkering around with the real thing.

You're right. Dems don't have all the answers. All I'm looking for is someone whose going to create the least number of new problems.

Oh and just so you know---I'm a republican--but I still like Clinton as a president and I supported him strongly the whole time he was in office---even with the Monica Lewinsky scandal. I will support our President -no matter who it ends up being---Democratic or Republican because that is the way it should be.

To bellaL and laurieleemoo I do not suggest that democrats have all the answers,I probaly would fall into the independent category.I support the death penalty even though it only deters the individual being executed,I beleive in limits on abortions, tough pedophilla laws(life imprisonment without parole)gun control, not everyone should own semiautomatics or even a pistol.Iraq is a quagmire with members of the Iraqi goverment, military and police aiding and embatting the insurgents, militias and terrorist. However as Colin Powell said we broke it now we have to fix it.Cut and run will not work and stay the course will not either. Our top military is bleak on Iraq saying we only have months to turn it around. It would be nice to see Colin Powell and Wesley Clark running for congress but they are not.As far as the democratic party is concerned I am from the old school FDR,Truman and Johnson (to a degree).I am going to vote democrat because I have no viable alternative, the republican who currently holds the seat has march lock stock and barrel with Bush.Bush if you take the time to read and really grasp the meaning of what you are reading is the worst president this country has ever had.He makes Nixon look like a saint.Read all the books and the NIE report and you will see he is a benedict arnold.

c'mon people--start using those brains of yours---PLEASE---FOR ALL OUR SAKES---enough with our President bashing. Do you know that if it were a Democratic President---I would still support him--no matter what party--in a time a war. That is the American thing to do. We need to start being united instead of divided---BY ALL THIS Rhetoric. Gawd, its getting old

Is that how the democrats think---that we should wait to do something until these rogue countries are up and running with their nukes. You people really are scary---yeah--leave our national security in the hands of the democrats and one day we will have a nuclear war. Is that really the kind of war you want?

you all are still carrying on that Sadaam had no nuclear weapons, huh----don't you think that is pretty much a DEAD issue at this point?!! Frankly, I don't give a *** if he did or did not have them------the issue IS he was trying like hell and he would have succeeded eventually.
so, what....we should have waited until he actually was kicking and rearing to go with his nuclear weapon and then attack him---after the fact?----Oh yeah,---the we could have actually had a nuclear war with him---I guess that would have been better, right? okay---airhead!

tejasdemo---as i said i was being facetious----NO ONE HAS ALL THE ANSWERS---unless you all plan on putting GOD in there as the Democratic President. All I am saying----it will be exactly that attitude which automatically sets the Democratic party up for failure. Don't you see---if all you all can do is complain---without actually having any solutions----that will be an absolute problem for your party. Its a SURE RECIPE FOR FAILURE. They truly have left themselves no room for error. I can't wait to see this miracle Democratic candidate you all choose to represent you. Right now, I don't see anyone in the Democratic party who would make a strong president at all. Do you? and who would that be, if so????

I sure am glad that Bush went after Iraq cause they were a threat to the U.S. with their nuke-you-ler weapons! DOOOHHH!

Bush is greedy idiot who sold out America to make his oil buddies RICH while we all get nuked by North Korea.

I doubt there are many US soldiers based in Korea that like old GW...

VOTE EM ALL OUT!!

the democrats are setting themselves for an automatic failure as we speak. All I can say, is that after all the RHETORIC---they better *** well have ALL the answers to ALL our problems. Its gonna be a major disaster for their party if they really don't have ALL the answers to ALL our problems----AS THE WORLD BE WILL WATCHING-----to see these amzing problems solvers in action (I'm being facetious, of course). According to the Democrats----they have all the answers

I think maybe we should send a Fox News correspondent and Lauriemoo over there for a little chat. Let's see how brave they are then.

It's going to take some Democrats to resolve this issue. The Republicans have shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are nothing more than a bunch of empty suit blow hards who dont have a clue how to resolve anything.

I have two absurd suggestions (no, I'm not being serious) for handling N. Korea from both extremes:

#1 (the hawkish answer) - blow them up. Tell China they can have N. Korea when we're done. Pay Russia gobs of dough to clean up the mess. Don't tell S. Korea anything in advance because they might object.

#2 (the dovish answer) - Give N. Korea all our nuclear warheads and missles, swear off violence in all forms, and hope they don't use them against us.

Maybe the correct response is somewhere in between??

Look, I never believed the WMD argument and more than a few Democrats didn't either. It doesn't matter now. We're there and in the middle of something, I'm not quite sure what and we need to see it through and leave Iraq at the very least better than it is now. Who can best accomplish that and deal with N.Korea and China and Russia. I don't think it's the Democrats.

Seriously look at the picture do you not see the resemblance to Howdy Dudy? And there were no weapons of mass destructon in Iraq.Furthermore why do you not read AGAINST ALL ENEMIES and THE PRICE OF LOYALTY both written by republicans and never rebuked. They both state that G.W.Howdy Dudy Bush asked for plans to invade Iraq 11 days into his first term.He also had the gall to ask then terrorist czar Richard Clarke in front of four witness after 9/11 to try and blame it on Iraq. This war was premediated, there were no WMD's and for 6 years he has done nothing about N.Korea.Sanctions get real, the countrys primary source of income is the selling of weapons.Military strikes, yes that will play out well with N.Korea,China and Russia. Our military is already strecrhed thin so think of us trying to take on all three powers.Partisanship aside buy up or seize all uranium and ecologically destroy it.Until this is done nuclear proliferation will grow.I am sorry Bush and his band of roxettes do not get it.Forget the past deal with the present and try to save our future.

About the wiretapping. I think we've all been tapped. It's weird but I wouldn't freak out about it. We are at war afterall with whom I'm still not quite sure but the world is getting very intense and changing right before our eyes. I just make sure that when I'm on the phone to give a nod to the agent listening and feed their voyueristic tendencies to the best of my ability. Even with wiretapping, deficit, weird war,I'm not voting for any Democrat that sold out and gave this administration a green light. I'd rather support the Republicans.

Seriously, that was the most obtuse, obnxious right wing troll ever. I wouldn't usually indulge in such taunting, but my god, the arrogance of that person.
