I just listened to an early show interview with a whitehouse head whom I was so strongly unimpressed and in fact insulted by her statements that the Federal Government was in charge. I do not see the Federal Government in charge of anything other than clean-up and per her statements, the local and state governments are the ones who are directing how these cleanups are happening. They are not in charge of what is being done to fix it, and if they were why were they not there a month ago with the leadership to take care of it. No the federal Government is not in charge of this one. They are the cleanup directors only, with the plan to cleanup by hiring our shrimpers to pull booms around the gulf, and to lay the Millions of feet of boom to ward off the oil when it comes close to land. These plans are sure working. All the while the oil is still coming out and the federal government is in charge. If this is the kind of leadership we have when we have a serious environment accident, heaven help us if our country is threatened by another far more life threatening incident would occure.
Just to check wasn't the federal government in charge to give the permission to drill, weren't they in charge to verify how the drilling was to have been done, weren't they in charge to verify all safety precautions were taken on the rig? I must assume that they have the people in positions of authority who are knowlegable of these systems in order to be in charge, isn't that the customary way to be a person in charge?
Conservatives always complain that Government intervenes too much and takes away our freedoms ... until something goes wrong, and then it's because Government didn't do enough. Hypocrite.
Talk about a lack of range of thought, go look in the mirror! You have no response to what I said, so you attack me personally.
First you say Government is bad, and Government should stay out, and Government is taking away our freedoms, and we want less government. Okay, so Obama stays out and lets BP have its freedoms. Now, instead of "Thank you, Obama, for giving us what we asked for," no instead, it's just waaaaah, waaaaah, waaaah, where is the Government?
by MyKeme I live in the Florida Panhandle and our beaches here are just gorgeous. I just scream every time I think of 'What could happen with this oil leak?' _________________________________________________________________________
Make sure you thank Obamie for his swift and decisive action.
I have always lived by the following rule, Leave Unto Caesar What Is Caesar's. Basically that means in an analogous way,put your money in a good, solid bank, do not let your wife hold it. Frankly I think we should stop the blame game which can also be construed as "Escape the blame game". Politics and money demands which I do not think are going to be as simple as sending the behemoth BP a bill, are really out of place in the Gulf Oil Spill. This is a hideous event and as a documented animal lover with my wife we are disgusted and appalled at the destruction this spill has caused regarding the environment in Louisiana and the demise of defenseless animals. It is bad enough that we ourselves are killing our planet but what I see is similar to the kitchen help squabbling over their pay rate. This is the time to fix this thing absent contentiousness and self serving accusations. BP is a technologically well heeled conglomerate with contacts. It is a dice throw yes, for them but this may be as good as it gets. You do not change horses in mid-stream.
No one wants to change horses, but they are trying to pull a team wagon with one horse. Start hitching up some more and ask the driver to climb aboard and take the reins. Podner!

I bought the best TShirt ever the other day at a gift shop in Destin, Fl that reads BP SOB 'Save Our Beaches' . You can also get one online at http://www.YoutopiaDestin.com
Perish1 May 25, 2010 12:20 AM EDT Anger issues appear to be your thing. Ok. Is Wagner playing in the background or are you a more contemporary nutbag? --------------------- Angry? yeah, I am. I'm angry at the non-thinking stupidity in this nation that actually takes hoes like Palin seriously.
We have a system that socializes the losses of global corporations in order to further maximize the profits of unaccountable corporate lords. The people who work for these private interests lose their freedoms each day they go to work and the intrusion even spills into off hours people aren't working for many corporations.
No matter what any administration says, the taxpayer will pay greatly for the cleanup of this oil spill and the people affected will not be compensated.
Exxon after 20 years of tying up the courts over the prince William sound Valdez spill ended up paying 50 million and prince William sound is still suffering the effects.
Speaking of Sarah Palin and Alaska. If we had been drilling on land in Anwar, this cleanup would be over already. Land drilling is always cleaner and safer.
Perish1 May 25, 2010 12:11 AM EDT exactlt more reasons why we need our government to quit its' apathetic response to this issue and start protect the interests of the land, water, wildlife, and, people. Without the power of government, we have no power. The problem is that any suggestion that the government is not doing all possible, brings out the defense mechanism of so many supporters of the party in power and its' leader. They are blinded by their loyalty and only feed the inaction and apathy. ----------------------------------- Politics have become obviously very complicated and tricky. Prior to the supreme court's decision to allow global corporations to unleash unfathomable sums of money on behalf of corporate propaganda into our nations political debate, Obama had been accused of being a socialist by the government action taken with the financials and General Motors.
The people of this nation are apathetic and grossly misinformed. Our freedoms are not being threatened by socialism but rather by private corporate capitalists who are incredibly lawyered and lobbied up.
