Ken Burns' "The Dust Bowl" provides an understanding of how human interference with nature can bring on calamity. It premiered Sunday evening on PBS & will be shown again. I wish CBS, ABC & NBC would air it as well - perhaps on their special shows like Dateline, 48 hrs. or 60 min.
My parents were teenagers barely surviving on farms in the "dust bowl" of the Upper Midwest during the 30's. Mother often said that reasoning people began to see that awful calamity was caused by disrupting the prairies more than the land could tolerate, but her grandparents argued it was God's retribution for their greed.
Good point, they make money by guessing correctly, not by taking political stands. They seem to believe in it, and have serious money riding on it. That's good enough for me.

Given Harris' hyperbole, it is no surprise he would ignore scientists at Iowa universities - scientists who have been conducting REAL scientific research in all areas affected by climate.
