So why does it take six weeks to rebuild a
substation. Transformers coming from
China?

This isn't about utility workers. I'm sure
they are doing the best they can.
This is about being proactive about
disaster management. There is a community in New Jersey
that is being told that it will be 6 weeks
before the power is back on. It is very hard to
believe that we don't have things like
substation transformers squirreled away in a
warehouse somewhere. This is a FEMA thing.

Another way you can be proactive is with tree removal.
It should not be possible for a tree to fall on a
power line.

Some of these posts are so hateful and irrelevant. You should be ashamed of taking a tragedy and trying to use it to make a political statement. If you don't have something nice to say, like "I WILL PRAY FOR THEM" then shut your pie hole and just donate money to Red Cross. You hateful individuals need to focus less on this election and more on the kingdom of GOD, which the righteous will inherit. God Bless YOU ALL and I will continue to pray for love and unity in this hate filled world.

""The Democrats ruined my business," he said, referring to his shuttered clothing manufacturing firm."

No sir, you not being able to do better than your competition did this.

This is a free market, remember? You have to be better than your competition. Or at least get more money from the government than what it gives to the competition in turn for all of those price wars that drove you out.

Or did I get this all wrong and the rightwing whiner is merely blaming Obama for the weather?

How come in this article there wasn't a single mention of Far Rockaway and how people are trying to survive there without heat, electricity, gas? Neither Red Cross, nor FEMA is doing anything about it. Here's a video proof.

Some of the posters here need to stop hating America. I feel for Lauren Destephano quoted in the article. The effects linger. I still cringe when I hear a helicoptor, after being evacuated from the High Park fire for two weeks this summer, and watching an army of firefighers, natl guard, etc barely save our neighborhood. I think you have to live through this kind of thing yourself before you really understand. Please give these people your support.

Chris Matthews(MSNBC)and host of HARDBALL with Chris Matthews stated after the election, "I'm so glad we had that storm last week," later apologized saying he was tired from being on the air so long and besides he didn't think of the lives lost and he said it "Politically Speaking" etc and so on and so on. What a caring democrat.

He meant what he said! The truth has a tendency to come out, especially cocky people!
Wonder why all the brains have been pointing to the storm as a case of global warming, I gather they have not followed the increasing sun spots and activity which normally was not due for another year or so, the intensity we have never seen before. Each time we have major sun activity we also have peculiar weather activity. I feel for the people of the east coast, but they always assumed they were a chosen people, could control the country, they live a charmed life. Disasters happen to everyone and if you live on a coast line it will eventually catch up with you! Also Sandy alone did not do the damage, 3 major storm systems came thru to create a "Perfect Storm"

Election is over, your vote is no longer needed, best of luck.

Why isn't the media coving this like they did Katrina? It was wall to wall for that, but just one or two articles on this. Guess it shows where you rate.
