What's the old saying when it came to style and trends, "As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation." California persued the same policies that Obama proposes now...CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!!.
Cities with a high percentage of illegal aliens who are cyphoning off resources (education, health, etc.) especially for their anchor babies, plus unions and other public workers that have unrealistic wages, benefits and pensions will continue to ruin cities across this nation. CA isn't the only state experiencing these types of fiscal problems. This is what comes of decades of too many giveaways without funding; you can only tax so much before the system gets broken.

Just another of which will be a flood of similar filings by cities in California (AKA Mexico North) and following soon in other cities and states near you. Towns and cities can't rely on monies from the state because they are broke. Most states are sitting on a pile of unfunded liabilities largely due to the fat contracts/deals they have given the state and local municipal unions. And, we are seeing that taxpayers are no longer willing to sit idly by while lawmakers increase taxes to satisfy their need to spend. The disgruntled can simply vote with their feet and move to those states with more fiscal discipline.
The wealthy that Calif and Obama along with NY have seen a massive exodus of those that pay more than their "fair share" The wealthy in California went to Arizona, the NY'ers went to Fla..and the uber wealthy went to Hong Kong or Austria..at some point the wealthy get tired of having their blood sucked dry by the freeloaders and decide to leave before they are bled dry..Even leeches leave their host.....after the host dies. The wealthy got that way by being smart and are too smart to stick around for the inevitable.
What California needs is more illegals and more democrats. The sooner the demise of California takes place the better. A wonderful state ruined by the far left.

Basically insuring that the elderly are 100% equal to those illegal aliens... and when the lazy masses absorb the remaining SOcial Security and Medicare budgets, it will naturally collapse... leaving NOTHING...

It's become a nationwide problem. The size of these cities is going to make it tough for them to reset. Their debts are astronomical and each time they raise taxes it pushes the crowd that was barely hanging on over the edge. California, Illinois, NY NJ and Ohio are especially bad, they are losing their taxpayor base as families move from the high taxes and high risk lifestyles. The biggest single factor in driving Ca. unemployment down is people have fled the state.
Liberals or conservatives. They are both nit wits. Where I live the local conservative authorities keep voting to take tax money and build baseball stadiums with it when only a handful of people want it. We would rather have services that are vital than to see our system broken. We get the government we vote for folks. Idiot voters beget idiot leaders.
Keep paying people to not work, keep supporting illegals, keep letting people in union government jobs retire in their 40's with six figure retirement incomes - maybe not such winning moves after all?
California is such a beautiful state. We have vacationed there several times and always enjoyed ourselves. It's quite sad to see the state an local governments make such a hash of the public fisc, but frankly that's what cali politico types have been doing for decades. Now it's the bullet train. Sheesh, when will they ever learn.

San Bernadino is also the name of the county is resides in. They would not be drawing off the tourist draws to LA, Anaheim, San Fransisco or anywhere else known for such things.

The fact that it's financially instable would be a reflection of lost of jobs. Most of which went overseas with NAFTA, or reduced by enviromental activism...
