The same filthy rich that control our politicians and have successfully replaced our real economy with Walmart and an outsourced economy managed by Wall St and NYC bankers, will use the drugs and violence in the ghetto to attempt to strip the rights of average Americans to own firearms. The elite want a disarmed citizenry.
I don't expect the _resident to make a huge deal out of this, even though it is. After all, it does reflect badly on his "home" town. But would it be too much to ask that he take time from calling everyone who opposes him "r@cist" and direct just a word or two to the thugs for a change.
Illinois is the most corrupt state in the union, and Chicago the most corrupt city not only in the country, but the world, and I live here. We have 2 ex-governors sitting in jail right now for corruptness. Chicago is in addition to the most corrupt city also the most dangerous, but I would not live anywhere else. I think we need Al Capone back here to fix things up the way they were in the old days. I love Chicago !
I would think it is Chicago that is corrupt and not necessarily Illinois. The Chicago area seems to control the state gov't, likely do population numbers.

Drugs are produced elsewhere. The poor people that peddle them have no means to transport them across statelines. They have no airplanes or large enough vehicles to transport the volumes they need to distribute so widely. Someone with both money, resources, as well as ability to bypass law enforcement gets the drugs delivered to the little people/distributors on the streets.
Just as you suggest, there has to be "special interests" that allow this to happen.
