How many accident reports cite the political party of the participants? Obsessed much?

wow ... that's totally unfair ... and completely unbalanced.

did you notice that would be an obvious conclusion to make?

do you think romney will pick a democrat or republican for his vp? should they be sure to point that out for you when it happens?

I didn't realize it was important to report a person's political affiliation when they're in a car accident.

If this guy WASN'T under the influence of drugs or alcohol, his license should be taken away before he kills someone. Was he sleep deprived? What would cause someone to have two crashes within 5 minutes, then pass out (from injuries, or narcolepsy)? Did he graduate from the Lindsay Lohan Driving School?

My money says this whole thing will go away. The guys that were stopped for the train will probably be charged with loitering (or better yet being Conservative Republicans.)

Also, there are plenty of DOMESTIC high-cars around. Shame on him for driving a Lexus.

If the DA drops the charges because of intimidation or special favors from Obama, the accident victims need to file a nice big civil suit for damages.

As usual, the news services get things wrong.

He wasn't cited for felony hit-and-run, but rather misdemeanor hit-and-run. To be a felony, there must be injury caused to the other parties. Additionally, in California, a person cannot be cited for a felony. The person must be arrested.

There were injuries. "Only minor injuries were reported in the other vehicles involved in both accidents."

Washington Post says, "Duran said Bryson would have been arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run had he not been hospitalized. Instead, he was given the citation, and told to appear at Al Hambra Superior Court in 60 days."

Ah, the typical rush to judgement. Any of you could be right. It could have been drugs or alcohol. It could have been something medical - people with some types of seizures can appear to function but not really be in control. I am a diabetic and I know that during a low blood sugar episode the person can appear to function but not have their faculties about them. Would it not be better to let all the facts come in before we decide the cause?

Yes, and it would be even better if the new services waited until THEY had the facts before going on about it. I guess "first" trumps "correct" though. Yes, they have freedom of press. I also have (some) freedom to declare that the current press appears to consist mostly of idiots (or maybe they're just going after the growing idiot demographic).

JFS_PA says:
If he was unconscious, but with no signs of drugs or alcohol, it could have been a TIA, stroke, or other medical condition. For those who don't seem to understand, if you have a TIA (a short term loss of blood flow to part of the brain) you may not be aware of your surroundings or be able to make any sort of rational decision.

That's why the medical issues ARE relevant to whether this is a hit-and-run. Nobody who's had a stroke or TIA that affects their higher brain functions is going to be held responsible for the "choice" to leave the scene of an accident. Until we know what's going on, it might be a lot smarter and far more humane to keep personal attacks (and attack politics) under wraps. The guy could be a total jerk. He could be a drunk, druggie, whatever. But he could also be a perfectly responsible person who suffered the sort of injury that any person posting here may eventually suffer, sooner or later, as we age.

Precisely.

I mean, if there's malice involved, arrest him, try him, if found guilty, fine/sentence him. I'm fine with that. As I'm sure you are.

But let's wait until the facts are in, medical tests are performed, phone records checked, and so on.

I don't remember the right-wing taking Dick Cheney to task for shooting his best friend in the face on a hunting trip. Which, of course, was an accident.

"Words were exchanged" with the people in the first car. That doesn't sound like someone who has a stroke. Sounds more like a drunk.

I believe that there is a cover up going on here, and the liberal, labor-organized police are complicit with it during this important election year.

This poster "JFS_PA" is just a little too eager to jump in and educate us all about TIA. Thanks for the lesson JFS_PA. Which Democrat Public Relations firm do you work for?

Yes... You are 100% correct.. As a person who has suffered a stroke, I feel qualified to give your post a "thumbs up".... When I had a stroke, what I remember best is that everything was just.. so peachy-keen.. Not a problem in the world.. Lots of things were very funny.. I actually saw humor in the fact that people couldn't understand me when I spoke... and it seemed only slightly inconvenient that I was not able to get up off the floor.

I would personally prefer: 1) To wait until all the information is in. 2) That others - particularly the Tea Party, although I realize that this is a fool's hope - would, if there is *not* a good explanation, to hold *Bryson* accountable, and not use this as yet another opportunity to "lynch" our President.

But I realize that this is not the America that I grew up in anymore. We're the Jerry Springer Show on a national scale. It depresses me.
