"The REAL killers here are the parents. They were the ones that allowed Martin to get involved in drugs. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT LET HIM RUN LOOSE AT NIGHT TO GO GET, OF ALL THINKS (sic), SKITTLES."
"Run loose at night?" Martin was shot and killed at 7:25PM. Is there a 7PM curfew for teenaged Afro-Americans in Sanford?
"To go get, of all things, skittles" - skittles are not illegal drugs, you don't even have to be 18 to buy them.
Shows how desperate Zimmerman supporters are, and how weak their arguments are, to actually post this kind of "supporting facts"
Whether Martin was one of the 40% of high school students who had ever smoked marijuana is irrelevant. No one claims he was selling marijuana or that drugs were involved at the time of his death.
He's dead because a vigilante stalked him and did not stop until there was a confrontation. Zimmerman should have stopped following Martin (in his car) when he was told to by the authorities, and he should never have gotten out of his car to continue to stalk Martin.
"He had to get out of his car to read the street sign" = in the development where he lived and patrolled all the time - this unforced lie alone shows how the entire story is BS.
I guess no one wants to wait for a trial. What's the fun in that when we all know what happened, don't we? Just read the conflicting comments here. None of you was at the scene, none of you knows what happened. Let the trial bring out the FACTS and a verdict.
It's poorly timed before his bond hearing, and sorry doesn't bring their son back. He's going on trial for a reason. "Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't" doesn't describe what's happening to him.
Perhaps the apology was bad timing, however there is no way that lawyer or anyone else can know if he wasn't sincere. And it isn't up to the Martin family if another apology is coming....it is up to Zimmerman especially after they snubbed him.
Maybe the Prosecution and the Defense are preparing us for a dismissal? They know more about this than anyone. Maybe Trayvon's camp doesn't want this to go to trial.
His apology reminds me of Tex Watson and Susan Atkins' "apologies" by apologizing for the loss of the victim, as opposed to apologizing for their actions in taking the victim's life. There is a world of difference between "I'm sorry for your loss" and "I'm sorry that I ended the life of your son."
Clearly, the apology was self serving and a true insult to the Martin family. The attorney in as much admitted it in this story.
This guy is pathetic. He went looking for trouble, and he sure found it. He shot an unarmed kid for no reason than he felt the kid appeared out of place. Whether it was racially driven (IMHO, if it was a white kid in a hoodie, Zimmerman would have let him go, but that is MY opinion only) or not, the death was unnecessary and the murder charge is appropriate. Zimmerman acted as judge, jury and executioner. Whether this goofy FL law allows this type of activity or not is an issue for the courts I suppose. I know I would not feel safe in FL knowing that any fool who felt I didn't look right or was out of place could shoot me.
As for the apologists (who reek of racism as well) who think that because Martin attacked Zimmerman he deserved to die, I would ask - doesn't Martin also have access to this goofy law? Zimmerman posed more of a threat to Martin than vice versa. As best we know of the situation, all Martin did to provoke Zimmerman was walk down the street with his soda and candy. Zimmerman followed him and confronted him - much more of an agressive behavior. Didn't Martin have the right to 'stand his ground' and attack Zimmerman for this agressive behavior (assuming this did occur)? You've fully excused Zimmerman for shooting the kid - one of you thinks he should be set free for crying out loud.
I'd like to see some of the apologists/racists on this comment thread address that point.....
It is not clearly a self serving apology. What appears clear to me is that George is pretty torn up about what is happening.
To answer your question, if Trayvon had shot and killed George, he might have access to the same law. It would depend on what the witness testify to. As you state, "as best we know" That pretty much sums up this entire situation. There is a segment of our society that wants to skip due process and go straight to lynching. Is the irony not lost on you?

I confess that I don't understand your stance. You say 'just because Zimmerman looked scary...that would not be enough reason to physically attack someone'. Yet you seem to have no problem with Zimmerman's actions. Does not compute. I'll state that we don't know what events promted the physical exchange - or whether a physical exchange took place. Do you agree that because Zimmerman thought Martin 'looked scary' that he had no right to confront him? Please elaborate.

I wouldn't say it was a failure to recognize irony on my part. The event itself is scary because of this goofy law that allows idiots to be judge, jury and executioner. As someone who was raised with weapons and recognizes the responsibility involved with same, the law should never have been enacted. An event where a gun-toting idiot decided to shoot someone was a foregone conclusion. What is also quite surprising is how blithe some are about the event - to the point where they think Zimmerman is a hero. Of course, the racism is nauseating - but racism has flared since the 08 election. Racists have come out of the woodwork now that their country is 'ruined'.

Parks and Crump have superbly choreographed this case. Contacting Sharpton in the start made the issue national. Providing demonstrators and the press with posters of a very young and vulnerable Trayvon was masterful. P & C played the press like a violin until other information about Trayvon challenged their credibility. They continue to play the press. When Trayvon's mother said "accident" they were quick to rein her in. Whether you are a Trayvoner or a Zimmermaner we have reason to be afraid.
It seems as if Zimmerman ad his crew are the ones orchestrating the media now. Oh, but we're supposed to see it as sincere when ne does it. Would it have been such a big deal to wait until after the hearing? Oh, but that wouldn't have had the same dramatic impact, I forgot.
Um, CBS: Trayvon Martin's mother was asked on the Today show last week what questions she had for Zimmerman. She said, "Did Zimmerman know how old my son was?" Zimmerman responded to all of those questions. Plus, the Martin's have been ASKING for an a apology for weeks. Now they think it's insincere.
Sorry, the Martin parents keep changing the goal posts. Their heads have been crammed full of nonsense by their no good lawyer. There's a growing backlash against the Martins for the way they've made false statemements to the media about their son's background. By not accepting his apology, they are fostering racial resentment.
