Shame on YOU, Buddy, for not understanding simple mathematics. The "average" American didn't just leave a job, which returning vets did. Their numbers aren't going to match the national average, because 100% of them just left a job, which isn't true of all Americans in the work force.

There's a lot in the press these days about out of work veterans. Is it possible that these vets just aren't qualified for certain jobs? I know it's not PC but the armed forces aren't what they used to be. They seemed to be a dumping ground for a more rural, less educated type person. We appreciate the service but if you went into the military with no marketable skills you're most likely going to come out with the same skills.

I think you over simply a systemic problem. One reason many may not want to hire a veteran is that many are still in the Guard or Reserve components. By law if they deploy, you cannot fire them or eliminate their job. It leaves employers shorthanded and in need to train a temporary replacement. Furthermore, to your comment of "the armed forces aren't what they used to be" you're right in saying that but your thoughts are misguided. They are better than what they used to be. The military has downsized which has lead to more responsibility being given to each troop. They are a smarter, more efficient force with quick learners. You really shouldn't stereotype a workforce you apparently know little about. Vets have a broad skill set when they finish their honorable service. Unfortunately too many civilian employers share your narrow minded views that soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen are less educated.

"About 10.2 percent of male vets are listed as unemployed. The number stands at 10.8 percent for females, well above the national average." This article is about how women vets are struggling, but those percentages are nearly identical. On top of that if you only look at strictly the numbers and not the percentages, there are more male vets unemployed than female, since they make up a larger number of the vets overall. So this article is complete BS.

"They have achieved equality but don't feel like equals." The percentages are 0.6% different. How are they not the same? What is CBS trying to show? The article should be how ALL VETS are struggling to find employment... Not just Women.

C-BS is working with feminist organisations to retain the victimhood status of women in general. Of course women vets have to have it worse because its always about women having it worse. Your point is well made.

When women point out gender inequalities that means we're "victims"?

If I go into a nail salon for a manicure, and it costs me $10, and then you come in behind me and they charge you $15 (saying that "your nails are bigger") and you argue that we both have 10 fingernails so the price should be the same (it's happened, was reported on the news, and the male patron was given a refund), does that make you "a victim"?

My guess is that you are both stuck in the idea that your wives should always be barefoot and pregnant. Women are all just stupid and whiners, and only you men know what's "good for us", right?

Here's a post I can agree with....it should be all Vets, regardless of gender.

Jaylah54- I'm not sure who you referring to, but if it is myself then I'm not sure why you'd post such a thing. I never referred to there being "victims" of anything other than CBS making a very bias story. I'm just going to assume that you unintentionally posted on my thread and didn't mean to make such a fool of yourself.
