Marriage was invented by God Almighty. That is why there are two genders; since the beginning of mankind. Marriage is a sacred union in the eyes of God that can only be consummated between one man and one woman. Anything else is rebellion against the intent and purpose of God and a perversion of the true definition of marriage.
Our lord also teaches us to be accepting of all people and to not discriminate nor hate any person. Pitting people against each other is completely against christian values and is immoral!
So, Chip, how does same-sex marriage affect you? If it doesn't, then all you're trying to do is jam your beliefs down other people's throats and that isn't very Christian-like, is it?

I don't believe you give a rat's ass what people do as long as you don't know about it and that it doesn't affect your life.

Atheists get "married", but i doubt it holds the same meaning for them as it does for you. Churches are under no obligation to perform a marriage any kind up to and including a heterosexual marriage. Two people of the same gender getting "married" does not change the definition of marriage. Its still two people who LOVE each other committing the rest of their lives to each other in sickness and in health, etc.
Did you read about the gay sex enjoyed by male dolphins? If God at the beginning of time created all then he must have created gay dolphins, chimps, the male gay penguin in Germany who shared an egg with his partner, etc. Why not gay people?
