I had the pleasure of seeing him out and about once. We were visiting DC and stopped in for brunch at a place near DuPont circle. It was noon on a Sunday. We ordered eggs, he ordered a Scotch. We chatted, he read the newspaper. We were all enjoying our day. Since then I took note of his writings and grew to admire him more. RIP.

flyingkite: I think the point of the comment had to do with the fact that Hitchens was a regular person.

There is no better way for a non-believer to prove their sincerity than on the deathbed. Hitchens asked for no bible or member of the clergy at his side as life left his body. His noble battle against superstition and religion's frauds will always be remembered.

Hitchens will be missed. He was a voice of reason in an unreasonable society. His "Hitchslaps" were numerous and unforgiving. Save your prayers for his soul, he doesn't need them and wouldn't want them if he did.

"Amen" (so to speak)

It's RELIGION and the warped, delusional mindset that RELIGIOUS THINKING OR "RELIGIOUS REASONING"[oxymoronic] CREATES, that is so dangerous, so destructive and so deadly.

The concept of God as one's personal beliefs, would be okay, as long as it is not perverted, abused, hijacked, distorted, ruined, etc, by RELIGIOUS MINDSET.

IMMEASURABLE BENEFITS FROM CHRIS HITCHENS HAVE ONLY BEGUN TO BE REALIZED

Chris Hitchens' greatest benefits to humankind and towards decreasing mind-paralysis, have yet to be fully appreciated. But from this moment forward, that will indeed change.

Hitchens was one of the most brilliant and outspoken minds,
whose theories and beliefs will hopefully continue to spread.

If only Chris Hitchens' logic and sound reasoning can be accepted by the backward-thinking, retrogressive, masses, and by religious apologists who continue to be held within the grip of religion, it would help put those manipulators who use religion for self-serving power, wealth, fame, war, destruction, etc, ... out of business.

Recognition and acceptance of Chris Hitchens' message, would immensely help the Billions of blinded, dumbed-down souls, break free from their religious encumbrances, in order that they advance toward true liberation and freedom!

Yes, true liberation and freedom is to break away from religion and having a friendship with God and not having anyone else in control from the outside.
