My neice decided to go to college after raising a family. She earned very high grades, received many awards, and became certified. She hasn't been able to get a teaching posistion. Fire the 300 teachers who should have been in their classrooms and make room for someone like my niece who wants to be in a classroom teaching.
Teachers do not get paid minimum wage but start around 40,000 depending on the school district. They also have a better pension than private workers. I have never met a teacher that did not have a pension from public schools. You must be thinking of private school teachers with their low pay and little or no pension.
Actually we need to retire more people off. Unfortunately since the demise of the define benefit pensions and the lack of medical insurance for those under 65 that is another part of the American dream that has disappeared.
Our adversaries around the world must be laughing at this. They would not allow these protests to happen in their own countries but are probably willing to provide financial support to keep these protests going.
US has been financing & encouraging terrorists(e.g.Hagqqanis,OBL), Dictators(Saleh,SaudiKings,Saddam,Pakis,Mubarak,Shah of Iran,Israelis,Sukarno,Norgia&+) so what is the harm if somebody finances these rightful protests of poor American Settlers who have been looted by their own kind
"The plan would involve creating 25 million new public-sector jobs paying union-level wages, providing free public transportation and free university education for all, staffing a single-payer health care system, and pursuing clean-energy research."
I don't see anything here about ending corporate influence on government. It sounds like they just want more entitlements.
HuntinFishin - You are correct. That is exactly what will happen. My business would be forced to raise prices if these protests caused an increase in my expenses. It would cost my customers more and they would experience inconveniences, too, if there are delays in receiving products they have ordered. If my business is idled, it means employees will either lose their jobs or receive lower paychecks.
I support poltical action and protesting for your ideology, but stop asking "the 1%" to "share the wealth."
Corporations are not empathetic, they do not care. They have a legal mandate to increase profits, and they will lobby your government to do it. It is your money that feeds them.
So starve the beast that is the 1%. Support your local banks and local economy.
Every cash register is a ballot box. Vote consciously when you spend your hard earned money. And vote libertarian.
This is getting scary. It's like I am watching a revolution unfold before me. I have not seen any of it in person because the town I live in is so peaceful and calm. This is an interesting time to be alive. Perhaps someone will organize a band and play music as well as encourage dancing? I am noticing people getting really tense and paranoid when they are just talking about it. There is all this dialectical structuring going on with this "who's side are you on"? stuff. It is all very interesting to see in the media.
Bottom Line: about 10% tops, of the "99" are participating in these strikes. More are not than are. Just like the tea party screaming at the members of congress for passing health care reform, some these demonstrators are blocking traffic. If I was going to work, I would be p#$$ed. How dare I go to work. I am supposed to obey these protesters, when they do not even obey police. Though the tea party and these protesters have different Philosophies, they have the same mind set. "I don't care if I sc^^w some someone, just as long as I get my point across" Both views of the extreme lib and extreme conservs are out of the main stream
It is closer to 1%. Oakland has a population of 390,724 people. 10% would be @ 39,000 people. Eventually, people will become tired of these protesters and whatever support they have will dwindle. This is especially true if people aren't able to get the car parts they need or the products they are waiting for, when businesses start losing money, and when workers start losing pay.

That's a shame.
Yes, increase costs that the company will pass on to the consumer. Clearly you have never run a business.
