- u pathetic armchair critics/posters...other people must do the dirty work and you can gloat and complain. What are your contributions to society? Fat-bellied , beer drinking, couch potatotes.

- You're absolutely right. Every American who voted for Bush OR Obama is to blame. Hang on......... that means most Americans! Maybe the problem isn't the politics at all, maybe it's actually the basic morality of most Americans. That's a bit worrying isn't it?

Any harm that comes to this soldier can be blamed directly on Bush and Cheney.......
....... and EVERY American who voted for them. - Reply to this comment
- *** is prayer going to do? That's like saying 'good luck'. Unless, of course their god is real and has bigger balls than the Muslim god. But from what I've seen that ain't likely.

- Wow, you people are really special on this board. Your messiah and his minions are very proud of you all. Your hate is right out there for all to see.
Now, go put your acorn hoodies on and grab your pitchforks. Time to do your messiah's bidding. - Reply to this comment
- True, it does not make sense, but only because as usual we are not being told the truth by the military. If and when the truth is revealed it may be a little clearer as to what actually happened.
It is sad, however, that we are not in any position to demand humane treatment of this soldier because of how we have treated those who we have kidnapped, imprisoned, and tortured. Any harm that comes to this soldier can be blamed directly on Bush and Cheney. Sometimes The Golden Rule can jump up and bite you. - Reply to this comment

- Isn't the thug president now?? Didn't he send more troops to the Afgan front? Weren't we supposed to be out of there by now? Haven't the dems had the majority for over 2 years??

- The simple answer is probably exactly what his captors said - he was drunk.

- Something is just not right about this.
He walks away from his post . . . leaves his weapon . . . then, shows up on a video, crying . . . and talks about how scared he is . . . ????
What kind of training (or lack of it) does the Army give its soldiers being deployed to areas of armed conflict for instances like this -- where there's the danger of being captured????
Is this guy just mental, or something? -- why would he just walk away -- was he trying to get captured? -- it doesn't make sense. - Reply to this comment

- Thats is something I've been wondering about. Should never being alone be part of training. Groups of three at least at all times should be together. As for being drunk. He may not have. He could have been without sleep for a long time or sick.
And who wouldn't be scared? I think even the strongest man there is has to be afraid. No one is that strong.
As a mother of a Marine this stuff is my nightmare come to life & my son & I had many talks about it. Yes he volunteered & he seems to have faith in the guys with him & thats great, but you just never know for sure. People get stupid & let there guard down.
God bless this man & his family. I hope he gets released & I wish our government would step up & do something since thats who they work & fight for. They stand up front for the US can't the US have their back?

When did we start cutting off heads?

As your eyesight is apparently somewhat defective, I can inform you that in the video his head is still firmly attached.
Perhaps you're referring to something that happened in a completely different country in a different war. Never mind, it's very difficult to keep track of all these foreign places with funny names, isn't it?

- c'mon now, he volunteered. if he, or his family, didn't know that volunteering for military service in a combat unit could result in capture, torture, being killed, maimed, being blown to bits then too bad. it's not all about fancy uniforms, medals, marching bands, college benefits, bonuses. whether he lagged behind on patrol or left the base or whatever, his pickle started when he volunteered. there is no draft. when you volunteer, you should know the score one way or the other. if you don't know, don't take the time to know, it's all on you.
