But the leader of the Miami archdiocese accused Cutie Thursday of abandoning his church and his flock. "Father Cutie's actions have caused great scandal within the Catholic Church," said Archbishop John Favalora. "and led to division within the ecumenical community and the community at large. Today's announcement only deepens that wound."

Yes, how dare he want to have a relationship, as a single man, with a single woman. Would it have been more acceptable for him to have a relationship with a boy and keep it a secret?

The catholic church is not persecuting him for falling in love, but he can no longer be a priest within th C.church, this is why he is trasnferring to the other religion. Simple,he does not meet their requirements so he goes elsewhere, its like when you voluntarilly quit a job because you do not like your boss. This is known as free will.

As usual, religion is causing heartache, pain, hypocrisy, and guilt. Anyone that buys into this nonsense probably wants a big helping of those. Fortunately for them, religions are masters at all of those, so they will not be disappointed.

I think it is total insanity for the Roman Catholic Church to persecute Alberto Cutie for the sin of falling in love and not being celibate. The Vatican has paid out millions to victims of pedophile priests that were moved around from parsih to parish...maybe they should concentrate on that matter, Celibacy was instituted in the church centuries ago for a very greedy reason...most priests then were men of means and the church did not want any descendants inheriting their wealth..celibate priests left their wealth to the church.

please base your comments on intelligence and education, the republican party and the catholic church are not the same, just like the democrats and atheists are not the same either. Stereotypes like this are not wha the USA is based on. Let 's share opinions based on facts and data without insulting others.

to dragyn30, let me educate you on the catholic teachings, the priest is married to the church(chruch meaning all the people practicing the faith, (parishioners, etc.)and not God, the word marriage here is referred to as in latin, COMMITMENT, sothere is no fornucation or sex involved. I dont see why this is hypocritical! Granted I think priests should be given the choice to marry or not. But lets be educated and intelligent when making comments liek teh ones you did.
