His New, Episcopal Bishop Says It Would Have Been Scandalous Had Celeb Catholic Priest's Girlfriend Been Married
- Forget Hypocrisy, Catholic Priests are NOT supposed to be involved in romantic affairs!
be it a boy, woman, or man. That is not me saying this. that is the Vatican as per Biblical Ruling, dadadadada..................................................Shame on him.
There once was a young Mexican Priest (from Mexico, not Mex-Am citizen, duh?) who discovered he actually had human romantic tendencies and became involved with a woman.............He personally left the priesthood. Now, that's honesty I can live with. - Reply to this comment
- I originally supported F. Cutie because I believe priests should be allowed to marry. However, I have become increasingly disillusioned with his actions since. First, he could have requested a dispensation from his vows over 2 yrs. ago, when his relationship with his fiancee purportedly began, second, he could have discussed his decision to leave the religion he chose to be ordained in with his archbishop PRIOR to having a huge press conference and surprising everybody, and lastly, I know many priests who have fallen in love and left active ministry to marry, but none of them chose to carry it out in such a public arena. I think this speaks badly for Rv.Cutie because he could have been open about what his wishes were. He did not tell his boss, the archbishop he had decided to leave, which is simple courtesy but rather chose to announce it in a public forum and I think this shows some spiritual immaturity.

- Followers of the Catholic faith are only followers, but the "money men" within the business organization that is the Vatican are truly evil...

- By the way...there is no need to stick around and continue to drag the Catholic Chruch through this drama. Why not consider your former family and go to Guatemala with your new "friend" and become a Episcopalean there? Why continue to injure this community? You are being selfish and self centered and will eventually have to come to the truth about it....I only hope it is not too late.

- Oh and finally where is it written in the Gospels the teachings of Jesus Christ that a man is to be married only to the Roman Catholic Church when they become a priest?

- I am a practicing Catholic in Australia and I am becoming more and more disillusioned with the Catholic conservative hierarchy of the Church here and the Church in Rome. I feel sorrow for all those current serving priests, religious and the laity like me who have lived through the changes made at the Vatican 2 Council and to now see those changes slowly being dismantled by the last 2 very conservative Popes and his conservative thinking cardinals.
So many priests have left the Catholic Church to get married and these men no longer feel welcome within the Church by this current Catholic conservative hierarchy. Yet these same Catholic Church leaders welcome married priests and their wives from the Anglican Church into the Roman Catholic fold.
If the ideas from the Vatican 2 Council that were set in motion in the 1960s had evolved, then today I believe that the hierarchy of the Catholic Church would have been welcoming of and rejoicing with Father Alberto Cutie and his fiancé, not condemning him. - Reply to this comment
- I question why he did not communicate this decision with the Catholic Archbiship? Why did the Epsicopalean Archbiship not communicate this with the Catholic Archbiship? Father Cutie knows the rules; he's been a priest for over 20 years. What a coward!
He does not understand that with every ridiculuos action that he takes...he is driving the pain in my heart even deeper. He does not know anything about a woman and is living a fantasy of an imagined future "family" life. He sounds like a 12 year old child that does not want to let go of candy. What is he really hiding? Why is he hding under a womans skirt? He will soon run out of places to hide and might be removed from the Episcopal Church as well.
Go back home Father...it is where you belong and the only thing you truly know. - Reply to this comment
- The celebacy of a priest goes way back to the original orders that were formed after the emporor Constantine embrassed Christianity. It wasn't that a priest was married to the church but rather that men were always heirs to their family fortunes. The church then would be the rightful beneficiary of any wealth a priest would have at his death. This is how it helped to sustain itself. If priests married, any inheretance would go to the wife or children. It's a Catholic law that has been long overdue for repeal.

- Catholics are hypocrites... My fiancee's uncle is gay and is of course welcome to go to the Catholic church that their family attends, but is not allowed to participate and is of course still going to hell for his sin of being gay. That's not hypocritical? You better believe they would take his money if he were to offer it for tithe, but he's still going to hell...
