And since you better believe that BO knew about this days ago, you have to wonder what kind of deal was offered to Arlen Specter so that the Republicans could not filibuster to prevent a socialist and communist from being appointed to the court.

A justice judges, looks at the facts. A supreme court justice is neither right or left. They review to the best of their limited ability to rule according to the constitution, which in the big picture is a BAD BOY. A justice judges the specific case, which is why, one cannot predict what or how a justice will rule. What we need is a JUSTICE who demands JUSTICE.... always know how loved and blessed you are. - I am kind of surprised that Justice Souter is the first to retire. I thought it would have been Stevens, Ginsburg, or possibly Kennedy. This won't have much affect on the court. President Obama will probably replace him with someone with a similar left-center ideology.
