Comments on: Terror Suspect Al-Marri Pleads Guilty
Man, Who Was Held Without Charge For 5 Years, Admits Al Qaeda Link
- A "terroriest wanna-be" pleads GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY and there are some libs who don't believe what came out of the guys mouth. A Republican could say they were "not-guilty" and they want to run him through the meat-chopper no matter what. Something is wrong with this picture, a "terrorist" who pleads guilty is lauded as "innocent", and a Republican is guilty no matter what and should be punished "to the hilt". Weird, Weird, Weird.

- The Feds sure have a lot of info and tapes on who trained with Al Qaeda and where and when-but never could quite put the bag on that pesky Bin Laden.
Well, anyway, we at least caught another guy with a beard wearing my grandmom's
tablecloth on his head-so America is safe for another week. - Reply to this comment
- I really wish they would just dump this guy out of a car in Pakistan outside one of those Al Queda bases, and then send in the cruise missles half an hour later. The entire situation makes me sick, I don't trust that he is innocent nor do I trust our own government has given him a fair trial, either.

My sentiments also. In view of the torture memos that have been released, I have large doubts that this guy really was guilty of what he was accused of. No doubt that he is an unsavory guy but was he really guilty of what he was accused of? Or was some kind of plea deal worked out? - Reply to this comment

People make assumptions about other people based upon where they went to school.
Bad ones. - Reply to this comment
- A big point here folks! He's pleading guilty to get assurances of a lesser sentence than being found guilty and doing maximum time!
If he's guilty of the charges---either way---it's not really a problem. But, if he's been tortured, beat up, and isolated---for FIVE years---he also might be just a little bit "off his rocker" by this time, too!
I hope this court is taking this guys' mental condition---or lack of it---into consideration is accepting his plea---and not just processing his case out of expediency!
There's been enough injustice concerning these prisoners to date, we don't want matters to get any worse, as they phase Guantanamo out of business! - Reply to this comment
- Apparently he was tortured enough . He plead guilty.

- This is all staged to placate the hungry public and officials that do not stop scapegoating the world for their own miseries. Guilt by association is a desperate measure...........

- I would like to know how much torture this man has been put under before he said he was guilty. I really would.

- Are we ever going to get the chance to hear any evidence or testimony from ANYONE in a public court of law proving alleged involvement in the 9-11 attacks? I mean anything that wasn't part of a parading list of confessions from someone that surprisedly didn't include raping George W. Bush's mother for seven straight hours in a depraved orgy the night before the 9-11 attacks among a huge range of claims of responsibility spewed forth after rounds of interrogation tactics that didn't involve anything the Bush Administration would call torture?
Public access to cross examination of ANY evidence whatsoever that can establish credible and conclusive proof of involvement in the 9-11 attacks?
I'm still waiting to hear who contacted Bruce Ivins to begin his anthrax mailing campaign sometime in August of 2001 to coincide with the 9-11 attacks, and why it took the FBI six to seven years to move in on arresting him. I mean we really need some public access to explanations that don't leave you wondering why the loose ends are being ignored, while the government parades a process before our eyes with a nod and a wink that expects you to just fill in the pieces with your imagination. - Reply to this comment

- Stop the Cycle of VIOLENCE IN PAKISTAN!!!
HELP ! THE PLIGHT OF THE TALIBANIANS
The world cringes as more violence erupts against the insurgent Taliban. A rag tagged group of locals, with home made weapons and fire power no match for the US supported Pakistani army.
"This disproportionate use of FORCE against a group of indigenous Muslims must stop." Demanded Peace leaders, in a historic signed statement, from the world capstone of ideas, universities and KPFK radio station, marching in solidarity with grassroots peace activists, from NYC West Side and LA's Malibu community .
By UN count, the peace lovingTaliban insurgents have lost over 2500 people including 699 children and 1888 women, all pregnant. The Pakistan Army reports no deaths, and only minor injury to one male soldier during staffing of a Taliban school for girls, during prayer, at mid day, and also during a funeral, at mid day.
"The land in dispute must be given to the historical rightful peoples." Taliban leaders pleaded for help and support in their peaceful quest for justice. " What kind of people would allow these army thugs to take away their heritage lands. My grand father once had relations with a goat on this very hill." Cried Alfonla Bur Yupmysssa. Others just wailed and climbed over a wreck of a car, looking for white chicklets.
The international community will be hosting a special DERBIN session next week , to focus on the PLIGHT OF THE TALIBINiaNS..

- The picture of Ali looks like a punk. There was many many American Gi's in all wars that were barely 18 and they showed heroism of bibilical proportions. He caught got so he is a loser. No virgins punk.
The US State Department id allowing 100,000s of thousands of muslins into this country legally each year. The State department needs to stop forcing people from this region upon us.
American's are hurting dear royal Congress and we are getting tired of the competition and of supporting others while I relatives suffer.

- "I hope we did not waterboard this sweet man."
That's the problem with torture. It taints all subsequent cases, soils the truth-finding process, and questions the process of real justice. No, he wasn't waterboarded, but held without human contact for 16 months, and subjected to ?inhumane, degrading, and physically and psychologically abusive treatment.? Held in ?complete isolation? in a bare cell measuring nine feet by six feet in an otherwise unoccupied cell block, he was subjected to sleep deprivation and extreme temperature manipulation, was frequently deprived of food and water, and was only allowed outside for ?recreation? ? also alone ? three times a week ?when deemed to be ?compliant.?? Reinforcing his isolation, his cell contained nothing but a Koran, a ?suicide blanket? and a thin mattress, and even the window was blocked out, preventing him from ever seeing natural light or knowing the time of day.
"In August 2003, representatives of the International Red Cross were finally allowed to meet with al-Marri, and two months later he was finally permitted to meet with a lawyer, but despite sporadic visits from the Red Cross and his legal representatives, the extreme isolation in which he has been held ? and the perpetuation of the ill-treatment outlined above ? has been barely mitigated. Including the six months that he spent in isolation in Peoria County Jail and the Metropolitan Correction Center in New York, before being transferred to Charleston, he has now spent four years and ten months (*58 times* the amount of time recommended by Defense Department lawyers) in solitary confinement."
Sure, Al Marri is probably guilty of something. But of what? The crimes he's charged with, or other crimes? Who knows? Who wouldn't plead guilty to just about anything after that treatment? And who in her right mind wouldn't entertain a bit of doubt whether his guilty plea had anything to do with reality? - Reply to this comment
- What a complete crock. This guy didn't do any more than the hundreds of innocent Afghan cab drivers Bush bought from war lords. This guy was a legal U.S. resident. What a disgusting example of welcome from what was a free country. Some day this massive fraud will come out and of course all the criminals will have died of old age. Wake up you stupid people it is all a dog and pony show. The Bush crime family manufactured a enemy using known CIA operatives. Osama has been dead for years. They used fake video of him to scare you stupid people.
